It's a DOCSIS 3.0 modem AND router.
Yes Jay, the MoCA standard is backwards and forward compatible. You may not exactly see the same performance since the Netgear is 1.1 and your FIOS router is probably 1.0 but they are full interoperable.
I can confirm Engadget's review. In a typical home with 4-6 outlets, you are almost guaranteed to get 100 mbps throughput. The 270 is the *total* capacity. HPNA and wireless perform so much poorer, if you can wire with MoCA it's well worth the extra cost.
I have the new Netgear MoCA 1.1 model, I'm pulling full 100 mbps. It's almost indistinguishable from straight ethernet except 2-3 ms more latency.
LAME.. where's the subscription plans?
HP has been outselling Dell for a while now. No one wants to go to hell.
Cue the Apple cease and desist in 5, 4, 3..
In theory yes but there is actually a SIM lock for both. While Fido is an MVNO they are still somewhat independent.

Having said that, after weeks of trying to get a Fido iPhone and dealing with the poor customer service, I just signed up for Rogers yesterday.
MobileWhoCares. I wouldn't pay $99 per year for this.
The actual service activation is done through your carriers billing system. The tethering is a separate process which only unbricks the phone.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
