Marantz releases AV8003 processor and MM8003 amplifier separates in the US {Engadget HD}
Jun 18th 2008 12:55AM okay, Ben you are not an idiot. I have some suggestions for the system. You could easily consolidate a lot of your equipment. If you did not want to consolidate your devices, I would suggest making use of that component switch. Everything that is actually 1080p you could still have on its own input. Add a control system (such as RTI) to easily switch and control the room. (lights, future curtains, switching, power on/off, etc.)

Jun 16th 2008 2:39PM Sorry to be so blunt, but you are both idiots. You're not going to find better equipment for the money. Why would you need 6 HDMI inputs? You would be using a matrix if you actually needed that many inputs/outputs. If your budget is a litter smaller look at the Marantz SR700x series.
My only issue with the equipment is that the 2 HDMI outputs are only a mirror of each other; they should be independent for a multi-room situation.

Jun 12th 2008 12:55AM We commonly need HD Analog video for distribution systems. They need to stop being over protective of content and let the overwhelming majority of the public use the material that they have purchased in a responsible manner.

Apr 14th 2008 7:25AM Don't worry I despise Best Buy and its Geek Squad just as much. However, Best Buy's marketing and store layout is much better than Circuit City's. You have to give Best Buy credit for winning the general population's approval as the store of choice for consumer electronics.

This is a smart move for Blockbuster because they will become more diversified. Circuit City is a horrible store that has already established many premium locations. I hope that the deal goes through so that Best Buy finally has more competition.
Hopefully they will squash Firedog's horrible attempt at custom electronics installation. Stick to selling the electronics while attempting to offer knowledgeable advice before the sale.
My Circuit City impression is failed at nearly every store I have visited around the country. The store layout is miserable, I can never find what I'm looking for because the service is nonexistent. When I finally do get someone to help me they have less product information than required for the job and use annoying sales techniques. Blockbuster probably recognizes Circuit City as a good fixer-upper and will focus on service and store impression to turn a quick profit.

Intel to debut Anti-Theft Technology to deter laptop theft {Engadget}
Apr 4th 2008 12:46PM It has to be hardware and operational for both Mac and PC. I just had my laptop bag containing a MacBook Pro running Vista and many other items stolen last week. It is heart wrenching to say the least. My guess is that the new end user will have to wipe the computer to use the machine which is why the solution of LogMeIn is unlikely to work. If it was hardware, maybe a USB device like a keyboard, the tracking chip would be detected during the installation of the new OS. Unfortunately, laptop tracking will still not stop the thefts because they are usually idiots, but hopefully you could recover the devices and catch who ever did not respect our society.
