Hack your RPTV to double the screen size {Engadget HD}
Oct 2nd 2008 7:07AM I'd love to know how it doesn't go out of focus. Anyone with a relevant amount of understanding care to explain?
HD DVD sales apparently still going strong {Engadget}
Oct 2nd 2008 6:53AM "Toshiba pretends no one really wants true HD anyway"
My GOD Engadget, seriously can you guys change the mother-spining record. Toshiba isn't pretending we don't want or need HD, what it's doing is trying to help us get the best out of every one of the billions of DVDs in the world.
Sure, Blu-ray is great, but enjoying your old movies is terrific too.

Sep 23rd 2008 11:42AM Anyone else concerned about the fact that you MUST have a gmail account, and it will be associated with all of your activity?
Seems like this is a great way for Google to learn everything about you.
Popcorn Hour's B-110 HTPC motherboard gets pictured, previewed {Engadget HD}
Sep 22nd 2008 11:19AM You, sir, clearly don't know what a review is. Those are photos of the product for those geeky enough to care.
I assume you're also the retard who commented on the CNET piece.
Perhaps if you took your head out of your arse you'd be able to see better.
Seinfeld goes HD on TBS HD {Engadget HD}
Sep 5th 2008 10:25AM Friends was shot on film too, but from what I can gather attempts to re-scan have ended in failure because the make up wasn't up to it.
Anyone comment on how the show looked, aside from the aspect ratio stuff.
Was it nice and sharp?
Popcorn Hour's B-110 HTPC motherboard gets pictured, previewed {Engadget HD}
Aug 15th 2008 12:46PM Rob, I think the purpose of the B-110 is that you get to put it in something that suits your taste. It can also accomodate more hard drives, (two SATA and presumably two IDE, as well as USB drives and perhipherals like wifi sticks).
Of course, the 7.1 sound would have made it brilliant, becuase a lot of people would find that useful, and it's not easy to fit on the other Popcorn Hour devices.
Olympus and Panasonic launch Micro Four Thirds, compact "DSLRs" will be yours {Engadget}
Aug 7th 2008 12:35PM So it's a bridge camera with interchangeable lenses then?
This all seems fine to me, although personally I don't have any interest in electronic viewfinders and am not that keen on LCDs either.
Still, as everyone has pointed out, I don't _have_ to buy one, and probably wont.
Still I'm never going to knock camera development!

Best of luck dude, not that you need it! I'm sure you aren't short of job offers :D
New head of BBC HD aims to get serious about high-def programming {Engadget HD}
Jul 22nd 2008 5:37AM The BBC has always said the goal was to get Doctor Who in HD at some point. The problem is that it will require a total set re-build to do it, and a huge budget increase, because the special effects will cost a lot more to create.
Torchwood doesn't have as many special effects, and was designed from the start as an HD production.
For those who don't know, Doctor Who is only running four hour-long specials next year (2009) and returns for a full season in 2010. It's reasonable to assume that it will be in HD by then, if not for the specials.
Pioneer's 60-inch KURO PDP-LX6090 plasma gets unboxed {Engadget HD}
Jul 3rd 2008 1:23PM There is a decent argument to be made that 720p can look better than 1080p for SD material. Certainly, the 720p Pioneers I've seen are stunning, and as has been said, give me good black levels over high resolution any day of the week.
