From now on the rule on Engadget should be no one gets to display pics of their new Android tablet/netbook if they haven't been arsed to put in the time to skin teh bloody thing.
If you want to sell me an Android device that isn't in a smartphone form factor take the time to reskin the interface, ya useless so and sos.
Why a year after Android has been released am I still seein proof of concepts with stretched Android 1.5 home screens?
I really like the interface, and I don't think it's too complicated, but it feels like the interface is missing something. It's the kind of interface a color blind person would design. I need more green-yellow-red semiotics in my interfaces so that I can navigate them with one eye, while preoccupied elsewhere.
Or a Smartbook. Something like the Smart Devices Q7 but with beefier specs, ARM 11 or XScale processor, a Pixel Qi screen, a commercial scale Batacitor to replace the Li-ion battery, multi-touch. Wifi, bluetooth. And running Moblin, not Android, and not WIndows CE. Moblin is actually designed for netbooks, smartbooks, and devices like this.
Hell I wish someone would port a lite version of Moblin to ARM so that I could put it on my Smart Q7.
The G1 (Android) launched with copy and paste, it had this feature before the Pre and the iPhone. Now put your dicks back in your pants, and put away the soiled tape measure.
Strangely this article seems to have left out the price which is $189 US plus shipping, or around $220 on eBay. And the fact that Maemo is being ported to it. What I would really love to seen on the Smart Q7 though is Moblin for ARM. BTW it seems to make an excellent eBook reader it comes with FBReader and Evince installed on the default Ubuntu Linux OS.
Actually I think Chinavision's uncomfortably named "Multi Platform Portable Gaming Entertainment Station (Black)" is a way better deal at $88. It plays a lot of the same game roms that the GP2X can excluding things like Mega-Drive, Playstation and Commodore 64.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
