I don't think so, based on their site. http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/specs.html

For HDMI, it lists to output in HD, HD cable is required. And for analog, it lists Analog multi-out x 1 - which would be the composite cable.

Hasn't Sony been touting the PS3 being THE High Def Gaming console?

I'm curious - How can you sell THE High Def Gaming console without a cable that will do High Def?

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.

"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
