If i recall back in the late 90s rockstar was working on GTA usa for the n64 and it was a full 3d not 2d compared to gta I and II on the ps1. GTA usa was canned for the development of GTA III which was in development for the sega dreamcast which was later moved to the ps2. I hope gta chinatown wars is in 3d but with a decent framerate. I bet there is very little voice dialouge with predistrians.
two decades ago and a decade ago if you wanted to watch a movie you had to buy it or rent it on vhs or dvd. Now things are a bit different now thanks to on demand and digital distribution. On demand and digital distribution is going to steal some thunder away from blu ray. Dont get me wrong blu ray is the succesor of dvd but it wont be as successful as dvd because of consumer trends such as usage and viewing patterns and sales. Those guys at the BDA really needs to try to make blu ray hit critical mass before newer formats start to come out such as flashdrive based movies. 90% of blu ray players are ps3s and less then 10% are standalone and pc blu ray players. Blu ray wont be around forever, I hope most of the 6billion earthlings buy and hdtv to enjoy blu ray if not using blu ray on a 1989 composite tv in the valley of durkadurkastan will be a waste. Any im avoiding blu ray until prices comedown and until blu ray hits critical mass not nationally but globally, till then I will be using on demand digital distribution and DVDS via upconversion. Its not too late for blu ray, but soon there will be other formats and devices that will take its place!
Yawnn, It took me about 20 minutes to download At Your Door on xboxlive, its a good movie with a very strange twist at the end. the movie was 1.4 gigabyte. I was surprised that the movie download so quickly, i just have a typical cable connection. I know many of you average joe are still simular to cave men. Many of us like revolutions and some of us dont, some of us are men of change and some of us dont change. Some of us want movies on a disk and some of us are now begining not to want a movie on a disk, both disks and digital distribution have strengths and weakness, but both harddrive and disks suffer from failure, its a more likely chance of a disc not reading compared to a harddrive breakind down. Itunes is now nailing cds in the coffin but at the sametime people are buying cds, jobs and gates are trying to bring digital distribution of movies, but studios trust sony and blu ray instead of trusting apple and microsoft. Digital distribution for movies is still in its infancy but it will take off. Sad truth is that physical media is becoming less and less popular, besides physical media makes a mess in your livingroom and bedroom. I do like DVd and blu ray is ok, not a fan of blu ray though. I do perfer to watch movies through pipeline like Digital distribution and On demand from cable, I'm also looking forward for movies from steam. Overall I'm just happy to have more choices on how to watch movies. you guys need to stop being ignorant, blu ray wont be around forever, blu ray will go the way of the dodo within a decade or less, digital distritbution, on demand will be around for decades or centuries for that matter.
Hey blu ray fans and non average joe ps3 users, how come apple is a member of the blu disk associaton and they apple dont fully supports blu ray and like microsoft apples trully embraces digital distribution?

CDs are bieng nailed in the coffin but its a very slow process, dvds adn blu ray will be next to go in the coffin. Any Blu ray is the successor of DVD sadly it wont be as big as dvd or vhs interms of movie sales thanks to Video on demand by cable companies and thanks to apple and microsoft for digital distribution. Soon steam will be offered for movies. There will be more movies through a pipeline then compared to driving a farway to your local walmart and blockbuster or waiting a week for a netflex flick. Physical formats will be around for sometime but its getting less and less popular these days. Oh yeah i find it cumber some to take my ipod to watch movies on my friends tv then taking a blu ray movie which he does not have a blu ray player yet at his house. To be honest im just happy to have more choices to obtain movies. Thank you phillips, sony, microsoft, apple, pansonic, pioneer, steam, andvongo. And i also wish blu ray luck when it has to compete with DVD,HVDS,Steam,VOD,Digital Distribution.

Even with the HD DVD out of its way, Blu-ray isn't likely to be the success that the DVD was, given the many viewing options consumers have.

That above quote is from aol time warner.

Blu ray wont be succesful as DVD because of On demand movies ala comcast and cablevision and thanks to digital distribution by vongo, (apple Who is a major BDA backer), microsoft with xboxlive and soon Netflex. When blu ray hits critical mass it will probably capture 1/3 of the consumer movie market and the other 2/3 split by On demand and digital distribution. Yeah I bought an HDDVD player but it still sucks to be you guys that own blu ray because majority of people wont even buy blu ray no time soon. Fuck blu ray!
Playstation2 was not my first DVD player. I got my first DVD player when my mom bought my family our first Gateway p.C in janurary 1998, my launch xbox was my 2nd dvd player and i did not get a ps2 until xmas2003, but my gateway pc from 98 and my launch xbox was way better dvd player then crapstation2. I never really used my PS2 for DVD movies. WHen the ps2 launched in japan, playstation2 helped make dvd mainstream only in japan, because dvd players cost twice as a ps2 in 2000. When ps2 launched in America, later in 2000 dvd players were cheaper then 300 dollars. Blu ray wont help the playstation 3 win either the format war or the console war. For one the playstation3 is 10 million units behind both the wii and xbox360. Playstation3 has to play a game of catch up. Unlike DVD which was a single unified format which limited consumers choice of medium, consumers these days have many options for thier movies, such as DvD, Bluray, Digital Distribution, and Video on Demand, the latest trend which was generated by apple and its itunes is digital distribution will probably compete with Blu Ray. Blu Ray only benfits HD users but Digital Distribution and Video on Demand benefits both HD and non HD users. Blu Ray will be short lived and playstation fans please dont bring up internet speeds is to slow for movies because I download full movies on 5mbps cable modem off of xboxlive and it only takes an hour and some change to download. Screw Blu Ray and HDDVD, its digital distribution for me! I'm selling my HDDVD player on Craigslists for a 100 bucks so holla back!
Note I will only by current DVD movies and upscale them on my DVdhome theater system and I will also download movies from ITunes, Xboxlive and Vongo. Both my xbox360 and my three year old PC is connected to my 52inch mitsibushi High Definition TV. I'm just hopinging and waiting for netflex will come out with downloadble rentals soon.
Even though I'm a huge fan of HDDVD and I own an HDA3 player along with 11 hddvd dmovies, I think and believe that both formats will fail in the light of digital distribution. Sony, panasonic, phillips and pionner should cherish thier medium victory because this victory will be short lived. By the end of this decade companies such as microsoft and apple will be touting more about downloadable movies for own or for rent along with other companies such as netflex, walmart, bestbuy and even your local blockbuster. Companies that are currently on the BDA support digital distribution except for sony, panasonic phillips and warnerbros and disney who are anti movie download! To many formats to many options for consumers. loosing HDDVD the winning blu ray, currently Standard DVD and in the near future or already here downloadble movies. consumers wont loose but companies corporations will loose if they pick and push the right medium. But Bluray is going to loose since it is bottled neck by current Standard DVD and Digital Distribution. Well any way im going to be selling my HDDVd player and 11 HDDVd movies on craiglist for 100$.
I agree sony shouldnt be to happy. Not only that but a few companies and corportations and movie studios are pro digital distribution like apple,Fox, digital playgrounds and etc. I think Blu ray is going to be a short lived format. If sony/panasonic/phillips really want blu ray to be succesful they really need to drive blu ray rom prices down and drive movie prices down and try not to persuade communication companies not to lay down fiberoptic high speed networks. however i dotn favor sony options. Digital distribution is going end blu ray in its tracks by the end of this decade. Hopefully by 2010 there is a 99.99 blu ray rom player thats the size of a 8 by 10 text book.

"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
