Is the Magic Mouse a dog? {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Nov 8th 2009 2:00PM I love it. I don't know how I ever lived without flick-scrolling, and once you learn how to take advantage of the entire surface of the mouse for scrolling it's very difficult to use anything else.

And it is way, way more sensitive than the old Bluetooth Mighty Mouse. It's funny how bloated and crude the old Mighty Mouse feels after you get used to the new mouse.

Palm Pre price keeps sinking on Bell, down to $100 {Engadget}

Nov 7th 2009 9:51PM Oh, there's always collection of free junk-phones to choose from. Newer smart phones cost a little more than free, but it's all pretty insignificant compared to the thousands you'll pay over the term of your contract.

And unless things turn around, they'll be giving away Palm Pre's in no time.

Palm had a window in which to save the company but it's probably passed. The Pre's performance problems have turned out to be quite severe; they didn't take a dent out of the iPhone or Blackberry, the new Androids look pretty good, and some day Microsoft may release a half decent mobile OS. It'll be pretty difficult for Palm to stay above water at this point, I think.

Nov 7th 2009 9:44PM It might be time to start up the old Palm Bankruptcy Clock again. 10 minutes to midnight?

Opera Mobile 10 features tabbed browsing, disses WinMo {Engadget}

Nov 4th 2009 3:37PM It looks like a cheap knock-off of the iPhone web browser that debuted almost three years ago. It's sad how far behind some companies are.

Mac share of web browsing goes up after Windows 7 launch {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Nov 3rd 2009 5:15PM Jorden, you need to concentrate more on your reading. No one is saying that Windows 7 is more like XP; to opposite is true.

Nov 3rd 2009 5:12PM Gav, the problem is that there are a ton of Windows users who are still running XP, and the poor quality of Vista makes them that much more suspicious about upgrading even though XP is an absolute antique compared to the state of the art on both Mac and PCs.

Nov 3rd 2009 5:08PM Jordan, Windows 7 is much less compatible with XP than Vista was. That's why they added "Classic" mode to run XP apps in a virtual machine.

Vista wasn't a clean break from XP, and that's part of the reason Vista was so far behind schedule and of such poor quality.

Nov 3rd 2009 4:46PM It's not strange. People are not migrating from Mac to Windows, regardless of the "newness" of Windows 7.

All Windows 7 can do is try to prevent losing more Windows users to other platforms. However, because Windows 7 is a clean break from XP it actually opens a door to allow Windows users to leave the platform altogether. If anything, I'd expect more users to migrate to Mac, at least in the short term.
