Oct 27th 2006 11:08AM agreed. the only REAL difference is that you are bypassing the heatsink and building one into the chip, so essentially mounting the heatsink on the die instead of the heat spreader installed on most cpus as a protection device. many people do this already to directly cool the die by popping off the heat spreader, but i have not seen any of these intrepid modders claim a benefit THAT high (otherwise i may have been tempted to try it out). that must be some ridiculous thermal paste...

Oct 6th 2006 2:00PM or you could be cool and make a diy project out of it and get an lcd panel and wire it up to do the same and more. or the slightly less cool (but still cheaper, and more versatile) buy a kit lcd that comes with pretty much everything you need without having to solder, i.e. from crystalfontz. and by cool, i mean really geeky. which is cool to me.
