@Peter F

If AT&T lands this phone in any kind of exclusive agreement, on top of being the only carrier for iPhone, that would be huge for them. But with all the bad press about AT&T lately, it would really show how hard it must be to work with Verizon.
I'd make it respect the relationships the company made with 3rd-party manufacturers and not exist. There's nothing good that can come from this. They cannibalize their own supporters in order to try to play the game of a competitor? A competitor that operates on a completely different philosophical ground too. One makes software that (they claim) works wherever whenever. Against another who wants to control every aspect of the experience. It makes no difference which philosophy is better in your opinion, but it does make a difference where each team stands. One team lost their way.
I know I shouldn't respond because you're an obvious troll going to Apple fan sites and posting stupidity like this...but I can't resist.

You still think it's about hardware feature parity? You think the reason people like the iPhone is because of the touch screen? Maybe you think that once a piece of hardware comes out that has more hardware features then the iPhone is finished.

The difference between a Pre, a G1, a Satio, or a Touch Pro is that they are running different mobile platforms. And those platforms are no where near as polished as the iPhone OS. Not even close. And now that the App Store has taken over, the hardware is even less relevant.

Ooh, you have a 12MP camera and a touch screen? Is it really simple to use and does it play Sally's Spa? No? Then I don't care.
you're being a bit of an apologist. I agree that it's better now, but compared to what? the bar was set so low on the first release of Netflix on the Xbox. they have fixed a lot of my gripes and the movies absolutely stream better now which was my biggest complaint. but why not add search? it seems so fundamental.

this is their pattern though, get it wrong, slightly fix it, slightly fix it some more, some more fixing, get it right.
Not sure if this only pertains to the 3G or not but I am able to use Voice Control on my 3GS with my Bluetooth headset just fine. No hacks or jailbreaks, it just works as I would expect.

Running iPhone OS 3.0 with a BlueAnt headset
Buy the world a Coke and everything will be fixed.
I am posting a comment. I would like an antidote.
I want to go to there
Get a Dropbox account instead. Put your most-used files on Dropbox. Then use the awesome Dropbox iPhone web app to access all of your files. You can open up many, many kinds of files too.

Plus it's free and relatively low-risk in terms of security.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I commonly need to boot a system from an external disc and take a snapshot of the host system. I also then need to burn a copy of the image to a DVD. While I can do it with two separate external devices, and two power supplies, and two I/O cables, it'd be nice to find a small dual-drive enclosure. It would need to have USB, eSATA, and FireWire. Either slim-line or half-height bay for the optical burner would be fine, and space for either a 2.5- or 3.5-inch hard disc. Any ideas?"
