Raven Squad to include online co-op, nothing else {Xbox 360 Fanboy}

Jul 25th 2008 5:00PM Microsoft strives to enforce their "must be XBL capable" mantra, though it's not necessarily set in stone. While it's not required, ALL games have "Live Presence" which really only means "you can only really just see me when I'm playing online, and maybe a leaderboard..." But you are online enough that you can still access your friends list. Multiplayer != Live.

-- Xbox 1 games do not have this (outside the games with built-in net code, like Halo 2)

Halo 3 reclaims top spot on Xbox Live {Xbox 360 Fanboy}

Jul 23rd 2008 2:50PM Game (versions I've played): my experience
Quake (2, 3, 4): No melee, medium pace, health and armor packs, (almost too) powerful weapons
UT (2k4, 3): Melee in the form of a gun, fast paced, health and armor packs, varied weapons
Team Fortress (1 and 2): Melee in the form of a crowbar, slower paced, health but no armor, varied classes (including varied weapons)
COD (2, 3, 4): Knifing melee, no real jumping, slower paced, regenerative health (no armor), varied weapon classes
Halo (1, 2 and 3): Punching melee, fast paced, no health (excluding in 1), regenerative armor, varied weapons

Personally, I found that Halo 3 was the easiest on the console (vs. UT3, COD2 and 4, Quake 4 and 2 that came on the second disk, and TF2, all of which I have for the 360.) UT2k4 and Quake 2 were my favorite PC games.

I share your pain on the "getting a silver account to kick the butts of lower ranks" but honestly it doesn't help much. If you're really that good, your rank goes up so fast that you don't see "n00bs" after the first few games (for example, check my stats on the name "t0uch what" -- I was a 29 in 30 something games then have only gone downhill from there!)

Also, playing against such low ranks only barely increases your rank if you already have like, a briggy.

All in all, Halo is def the easiest to pick up and play on a console (the only one my GF likes, which says a lot! she's tried all of the above too and sticks with Halo and Tomb Raider :-P)

wow, thanks for reading my novel!

E308: South Park XBLA to launch in 2009 {Xbox 360 Fanboy}

Jul 18th 2008 1:14PM I actually liked the game on the N64...but apparently I was the only one?

It felt like Turok with funnier sound quips and weapons...

E308: No new Bungie announcement? {Xbox 360 Fanboy}

Jul 14th 2008 4:00PM Can I just add that the "Halo: Blue" announcement is driving me insane?!? LOOK AT THE SCREENSHOT, it CLEARLY says "Tornado Halo Blue."

That doesn't sound like Halo to me!

Wal-Mart database shows entry for Halo "Blue" {Joystiq}

Jul 14th 2008 9:30AM Looks like it's something called "Tornado Halo Blue." Maybe...a holy storm bears down over ship faring minions, like... Black & White meets Pirates! meets Sim City?

MS considered 3D tech for Xbox 360 {Xbox 360 Fanboy}

Jul 7th 2008 2:29PM MY thoughts exactly.... That looks fun...if I played games sober.

Hurry, snag a 360 Pro for $190 {Xbox 360 Fanboy}

Jun 27th 2008 2:30PM Not if the warranty was broken by opening the box to "refurbish it."

3 balls. 12 players. 1 Halo 3 double EXP weekend. {Xbox 360 Fanboy}

Jun 27th 2008 11:43AM It's hard, like musical chairs with oddballs... Played on snowbound and got my @$$ handed to me, though, I was playing on a team of me at 45, other guy was an 11, and my friend is a 10 against teams of generals and briggies...

Has anyone else noticed that once getting to a 45 you rarely RARELY play against easy people anymore, even if you're partied up with low ranks? I'm thinking I want to start a new account, it's no fun anymore that I only win half the time! :-P

OK so maybe I'm a sore loser too....

Treyarch up to the Call of Duty {Xbox 360 Fanboy}

Jun 24th 2008 2:26PM Not to pick you apart, but I have a few thoughts:

A) The silencer meant you wouldn't show up on radar...hardly useless.

B) Online matchmaking is NOT cooperative play. The fact I can't run through the campaign with a friend means I got about a third of the way through it and got bored. Seriously, check my achievements: beckerist.

C) It really would have been nice if prestige gave you some extra perks. I know it makes it tough, but come on...there's such thing as QA to balance the game, it wouldn't have been that hard.

D) Sprinting sucks. I know it's been a part of COD for a few installations now but why should I have to hold down a joystick to sprint, when the real estate for that button push could be used for ANYTHING else...always bothered me.

Don't get me wrong, COD4 is an awesome game, but it could have been a lot better. Here's hoping that COD5 is as good as it's sounding.
