Not as good an option as Better Place
http://www.betterplace.com

You pull in to a charging station and in the time it would take to fill up you swap for a freshly charged, latest technology battery (that you don't own... you lease battery time as you need it... makes for a much cheaper car.) You can still charge over night at home, and if you need to go to the edge of town you swap for a fresh battery, doubling your range.

It's pretty smart.

They are starting in cities and places like Hawaii, where there is nowhere far to drive... and will evolve from there.
I wonder if this would work as a home for older slower RAM chips... rather than throwing them away. Instead of 4GB on 4 slots why not 4GB across 16 slots using "donated" slower 250KB RAM? Would still be quite fast and the memory is practically free.
I don't need this, but I know someone who does who will think I'm a rockstar for giving it to them.
Or you could take 3 $700 1080P 32" monitors and rotate them 90 degrees... Plus a displaylink

You'd have some gaps and only 1920 x 3360 res, but a screen about the same size for only $2100. Looks like their content would fit nicely on three separate vertical screens anyway.
I don't read too many blogs, but Engadget is a regular part of my "keeping up with trends" research.

And I could use a couple of tickets on my favorite airline!

Happy happy!
It needs a motion detector so that it comes on when I approach and shuts down (at least the screen) when no one is around to look at it. I feel like it's eating too much power just sitting there when no one is around.
Big bucks, no whammies!

Thanks!
Hey, I hope I made it through the extension deadline.
Thanks!
Looks to me like a Chumby's more serious and steril (and expensive) older brother.

Not as cute as a Chumby... but information appliances like this are going to be the next big thing.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for a device that will stream sound from one source to several recipients. For example, I want to stream sound from my TV or stereo to my phone or MP3 player that has radio and Bluetooth capabilities. I have looked into radio transmitters and they seem like a decent choice, but I can't find one that uses external power (USB or from the plug) and I would want one with a transmit range of around 50 meters. Thanks!"
