Don't understand all the moaning about the licence fee. It may not be optional, but it's well worth the money. And forcing people to pay, while annoying for many, ensures quality. The BBC, while far from perfect, is the single greatest media network in the world.

£11 per month for

TV:

BBC1
BBC2
BBC3
BBC4
BBC HD
BBC NEWS.

Radio:

BBC Radio 1
BBC Radio 2
BBC Radio 3
BBC Radio 4
5 Live
6 Music
World Service
Lots of regional stations

Plus probably the best news website in the world. iPlayer is just the icing on the cake - watching Life in HD last night was amazing.

Plus its all completely advert free.

It's great value, even if you dont use all off it. Yet some people would rather hand over there hard earned cash to that goon Murdoch for the fine privilege of watching endless adverts. I could understand the moan if it was rubbish, but it's not. The fact that the BBC export more shows than any other network in the world speaks for itself.

'gwd bless the beeb. If i ever left the UK i would seriously miss it :)
"I heard if you tell TomTom in UK to find a local dentists, it says, "drive 10 hours to France".

What's that all about?"

Tedious racist stereotyping, that's just completely wrong. As well as private, we also have NHS dentists for the poor. Unlike the US, where being poor means ripping their own rotting teeth out with a pair of pliers. The standard of oral hygine and teeth is pretty good in the UK. Find something else now please.
Hmm, good news, but the free add-supported version is what most people use and want. The Spotify library can't hold a candle to the Napster and Rhapsody, which is were my money would be going if i wanted a subscription service. Hope it works out for them though, the all-you-can-eat for a small fee model is the future IMO.

Hopefully now the Spotify developers has the time to improve the terrible API they have provided and allow us to use our Squeezebox's, Sonos etc - preferably with the free version.
Spotify is great. But you get 3 adverts per album, would you rather not pay just £5 for a much larger advert free library access? To get Spotify advert-free it costs ~$15.

Also, Napster works with Squeezebox's and Sonos. The only way to listen to Spotify right now is with a PC (although that will change soon hopefully). Don't get me wrong, Spotify is great - but Napster looks a lot more attractive to me right now.
Whats the point in cutting these things up? Even the most geeky people around here dont know what 90% of the stuff inside is. Or do people really go "OMFG, it's like got some micro chips and PCB in in it!!! and i thought it was made of cheese".

Give them to charity or something.
This is another pointless report. Lorry drivers have always caused problems and got into trouble with narrow roads, one way systems and low bridges. But they now have something else to blame. And people go oh yeah, it's those silly GPS thingy-watsits that did it!

Why do these keep getting reported?
Thats the most rancid thing i have ever seen.
What a great marketing ploy by Nokia - but seriously, what 'proper' journalist is going to be using a N95? Come on now; the battery would be dead in an hour, the GPS takes forever to get a fix and camera is terrible (even at 5mp, it not for serious pro use). If a laptop is not available, Windows Mobile would be a far more sensible. The N95 is not a proper smart phone, it may be the "ultimate device" for clueless fanboys like Jon above who dont understand what a proper smartphone is, but there are already devices and software (lets face in, Symbain development is incredibly lame compared to the other platforms) out there that can do the job 10 times better. And the N95 is being discontinued soon anyway. Maybe you mean the new 8gb version Engadget ;)
Why does anything about Britain turn into a Flame war with American's making rude and uninformed stereotypical remarks about the British. Get over it.
I would be interested to hear the Radio Stations thoughts on this, it could have an impact on their listening figures and advertising revenues. But i really don't think anything will come of this.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for a device that will stream sound from one source to several recipients. For example, I want to stream sound from my TV or stereo to my phone or MP3 player that has radio and Bluetooth capabilities. I have looked into radio transmitters and they seem like a decent choice, but I can't find one that uses external power (USB or from the plug) and I would want one with a transmit range of around 50 meters. Thanks!"
