Starcraft, forever and for always.
They're not referring to Gizmodo, but rather Gizmondo, the gaming handheld that failed miserably a year or two ago. (You might recall the stories about the executive smashing the Ferrari Enzo in California.)
I'd use it to do some homework each day on the train ride back from school. (I do a lot by e-mail.)
I don't even want to think about what the Boston police will manage to do to these.
This guy is the most unbelievable, egotistical scumbag in business. He sounds like he thinks he's our Dear Leader and overlord, what with his, "It's more than a toy. It's a Playstation 3."

I'm hoping right there with you, though this would hardly be out of character. Even Microsoft, that bloated, inefficient behemoth, can control the PR flow. Sony can't even manage that much.
As said before, this is egotistically misguided. Whether or not you agree with the law in principle, France is not a big enough market for anyone, Apple or Microsoft, to comply in order to continue doing business there. I can't help but think that the French legislature has a completely deluded assessment of their own worth.
Don't make me buy a UMPC...

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"My father-in-law is heading back to school in the spring and wants a laptop for Christmas. The only catch is their budget is around $400 and he does not want a netbook. He's not very "tech savvy" at all and doesn't need a hoss of a machine (not that $400 could get you one). We would like to get it for him as soon as possible and would love some input."
