Not having expandable storage in the cheap version could make it pretty useless if it doesn't have a decent amount of memory. They really should rethink that.
Do I really want to watch a classic film like say Lawrence of Arabia as a series of layered billboards? 3D is cool for about 5 seconds and then you get sick of it. It doesn't look 3D, it just looks layered and kinda weird too.
..."and boast a 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio * ** "

* static contrast ratio of 1,000:1 like every other LCD
** please note dynamic contrast will completely ruin dark scenes in your movies and you will have to turn it off. See above note about static contrast ratio.
Fix the keyboard and I might be interested.
You couldn't be more wrong. This problem first came to light on HP laptops. nVidia have also confirmed it's their fault, and didn't you see their share price drop 24% the very same day?
So are Dell going to contact me and advise me to do this BIOS update, cause otherwise I aint bothering. If it's going to die I'd rather it happened during the warranty, and I don't want a louder laptop with shorter battery life.
You mean like how nvidia tried to hide the 7900 GT problems?
Would this issue actually cause a chip to run hotter? I understand the chip will fail eventually but while it's still working surely it will generate a normal amount of heat.

Anyway, 8600M GT here too in my Vostro 1500 so let's hope if it's going to die it does so during the warranty period.
Did you ever post those photos? :)
^ Yes you can deactivate most of them.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
