For almost a week now I've been having problems with apps updating. If there were 5 updates available then all 5 would install but 1-2 would still show back up as updates again. Sometimes they would install the second time sometimes it would take 5-6 times over a 2 day period to get an app to update. Ap Store really pissing me off this week.
I just want a cradle like this for everyday use, with or without the GPS. I do not have a vehicle with a bluetooth receiver for hands free calling nor am I going to wear one of those ridiculous looking ear pieces. I've also been frustrated with my Griffin car charger that the phone doesn't recognize and cuts off the sound so I don't hear it when it rings. I have to carry it in my lap or wedge it under my leg with vibrate turned on to know when I get a call.

This cradle is a catch all that I would love, but I'm not going to pay that much for it.
Better yet, silent.

Then there is no embarrassment, no rude behavior, no contributing to noise pollution and no being an annoyance to society. Just quiet, professional, decent, courteous silence.

The world would be a much better place if there were no ringtones, cars couldn't drive with just PARKING lights on, and every car would automatically move itself into the slow lane when not passing. And everybody had a puppy.
I can understand a company not wanting to undercut their own products, but I'm not buying their hardware, packaging, subsidizing advertising, etc., I'm just licensing their software. Any other software is cheaper as a download rather than a physical copy.

That's why I always hated the music industries claims that they were not making enough money on iTunes. All of the packaging costs, shipping, physical manufacturing costs, etc., are eliminated, so how can a one time upload to Apple's iTunes servers cost more than all the costs associated with a physical production.

I agree that rock-bottom pricing is unreasonable, but I can't see where paying more than $30-50 dollars would be justified. Apple gives them the development software, they already have the maps, already have the basic API's that work with mobile processors, and do not have any associated production costs.
Louder Speakerphone: No, we do not need the ability for people to be more rude and obnoxious. Loud environments are usually caused by folks compensating to ignore some idiot who feels everyone needs to know and acknowledge that they are special and have a phone with 'special, unique abilities'. You're not special, you don't have some ability that nobody else has, you're just rude.

Bluetooth: See above. Plus, you look stupid. LEAVE THEM IN YOUR CAR!

Notification/Ring tones: See above. Please do society a favor and put your phones on silent. Especially in professional environments. They're not as cool as you think.

App settings: Agreed.
She's Freema Agyeman. She was one of the recent hot sidekicks on BBC's Doctor Who and now stars in their incredibly boring British version of Law and Order, Law and Order UK. Only reason to watch it is for her and Jamie Bamber (Apollo from BSG) as an investigator.

Hot. Wears leather. British. Perfect.
911. Simple. Direct.

If you've got a signal for data then I'm sure that you've got a signal to contact LAW ENFORCEMENT. As a law enforcement officer, I hate anything that distracts people from following the simplest, most effective route to help. The absolute worst is the dumbasses who sit in their house/business being burglarized or on fire and wait for ADT to call them so that ADT can make the call for them.

It doesn't make any sense to me to add more variables to the mix in getting information from point A to point B. There's no need for it.

Don't get me wrong, I think my iPhone is one of the best tools I've ever put my hands on, wouldn't trade it for anything. This app could too easily be abused and there is no easy way track down false reports that waste resources. At least with fake 911 calls we know exactly where they come from before we even pick up and have statutes in place to charge people for fake calls.
The gear is cool and all, but a hottie Mac chick sporting said gear (Christina Warren) is way cooler!
I was raised with some ****ing manners. Ringtones are about as rude as you can get. The only thing worse is that stupid NEXTEL chirp followed by the speaker conversations.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
