Kip is correct: supersonic flight is against the law in the United States. Presumably Lockheed thinks they can get a waiver for this airplane. In any event, you won't have to worry about sonic booms close to airports. I highly doubt this airplane will be supersonic during its departure climb, and no civilian aircraft is allowed to go faster than 250 knots below 10,000 feet anyway.
Here's the NTSB's preliminary brief: http://ntsb.gov/ntsb/brief.asp?ev_id=20060627X00840&key=1

I think that link will be updated with the probable cause once they reach a conclusion.
Looks like we're on phase three of the Apple product life cycle. It should only be a day or two before someone finds a "major flaw" (read: minor annoyance) and starts an on-line petition to get it fixed.
If I worked at Apple, I'd do shit like this on purpose just to mess with people.
I clearly live in the wrong country.
This sounds ridiculous, but I once had a loud mouse, and it make me want to kill.
I was less than impressed with the accuracy of a Pharos GPS unit that I used a couple of years ago. It was unusable without an active antenna. If you're in the market for GPS, Magellan's units or anything with a Sony chipset are pretty solid.
I assure you there are no afterburners on that thing. It's pretty damn cool though.
29: What in God's holy name are you talking about? "BSD is largely PC based"? I'm going to pretend that your statement has meaning and give you a little history lesson: BSD was born on PDP-11 and VAX. Furthermore, modern versions of BSD run on nearly every architecture ever created.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a wireless trackpad to use with my older (2.5 or so years old) C2D MacBook that's perpetually docked to my home theater. Something sleek, thin, not too small, made of high quality materials. Ideally, it would natively support all of (Snow) Leopard's multitouch inputs, and even more ideally, it would have a charging dock / base. The only problem is that I'm not sure that such a thing even exists. Think you can throw me a bone?"
