Yup, it's a blackbook. I had to look a few times before I really believed what I was looking at. I had Engadget open to compare the gallery pictures to what the guy was holding to make sure it really was a Foleo. I also checked on Palm's site to make sure it hadn't really been released yet. I was just too much of a chicken to actually go and talk to him about it.
Actually, it was at Boardwalk auto center, which is a big dealer and service center. The waiting room was full of about a dozen people. I was too chicken to actually go and talk to him about it. I had Engadget open on my laptop to double check the gallery pictures of the Foleo to make sure that it was really a Foleo I was looking at. It did indeed have the silly ridges on the back, even though it's hard to tell from the picture.
While this is insanely cool and all, it means that instead of working on a .1 update to add cool features to my iPhone, Apple will have to work on a ..1 update to undo this thing. This is just going to distract Apple from getting new features into an update for all of us who use the iPhone as intended.
When was the last time you checked out Caltrain? They run 2 trains an hour during midday hours, and there are 6 northbound baby bullets just during the morning communte. 5 trains per hour leave San Jose in the morning rush, and 5 per hour leave SF in the evening. Both my husband and I commute on the train frequently and the only time it was more than a few minutes late was when a train hit a truck. It only took them 2 hours to clear the tracks get the trains running again. I generally ride in the early afternoon and my train is always on time.

Sure it's not a cheap ride, but we only travel 2 zones. It's still much cheaper than BART. Having those silly signs display something worthwhile would be nice though.
I've been a windows gal forever. I just recently jumped ship and got a MacBook when my Vaio choked on Vista. I live by my Windows Mobile PDA phone, but it doesn't integrate so well with the mac. I'm really interested in seeing how the mac/iPhone work together vs my old Windows/Windows Mobile setup.

Oh and visual voicemail is officially the coolest thing ever. I might actually return voicemails if I had that.
My only concern on this thing is the screen. The whole point would be to up the size of the screen I'm browsing with from 320x240 to something more desktop like. I'm disappointed that in the gallery, it looks like the actual screen does not fill the top of the computer. I hate seeing such a big dead space. I would happily pay a little more to see the whole top be screen space with something along the lines of 1024x600 or even 1280x800.
The ads that jump out of their space and cover things are the flash ads that live in the middle bar between the main articles and the list of links on the right. Most recently for me it was an iPod ad that took it's space in the middle and covered with white space the same width to the left and right of the ad. When I right clicked on it, the flash setting thing came up and the whole area was selected. The Kaiser ad and Netflix ad in the same space seem to be be playing nice and staying in their box.

This is from Firefox 2.0.0.3 on Ubuntu Fiesty. It could just be an artifact of the linux flash player sucking. I'm not sure if it happens in windows as well. But I would like to able to read engadget from whichever system I'm on.
Yup, those are our cakes. We didn't tell anyone before hand, so they just walked out and saw them. There was much laughter, but also a fair amount of confusion. People could figure out the windows and mac, but some didn't know what the heart meant. Too many guests work for Cisco or Sun or had to ask where the linux penguin was. They were all yummy.
Not near as cool as my wedding cakes. My husband is a designer mac-addict, and I started building DOS boxes with my dad when I was 7. I had a windows flag for a cake, he had a mac apple, and we put a nice pink heart in between. I think the photos are somewhere on flickr.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
