I noticed some errors in your sentence structures...
Have you ever considered that you may have a defective unit?
The upgrade "hole" isn't the only concern. I just read this over at rojo and I'm asking myself (and you all) a couple of questions. First, here is what I read; "Webroot Software, one of the plethora of security companies that helps protect Windows users from attacks, said that buyers should be aware of the potential holes in Vista. "We want to make sure that users understand the system's limitations," said Gerhard Eschelbeck, a spokesman for Webroot, "and caution them that Microsoft's anti-virus programs may not fully protect them."
In testing, the company said, the new Windows Defender program failed to block 84% of viruses - including 15 of the most common pieces of malicious code."
Question #1. Why would I buy this, upgrade or not?
Question #2. Why is Vista made in such a way that I'm not protected from 15 of the most COMMON pieces of malicious code "right out of the box"?
Question #3. What HAVE they been doing for the last five years?
Question #4. Why would I buy this?
Question #5. Why would I buy this?
Question #6. Why would I buy this?
Question #7. Why would I buy this?
Vista does look highly polished. No mattter how much you polish a turd, it's still a turd.
First you want to Zune me, now you want to Vista me? Blow. People are starting to wise up microshaft.
gadgets? that's innovative. Have you thought about making a phone...
Why am I even putting thought into this?
Fairly old email, but it is as relevent or more so today. Some of Microsofts own customers have been saying the same things for years, but yelling "iceberg!" doesn't keep a big ship from hitting it. Big ships don't sink fast either, but the crew (like Jim) are the first to know when your sinking. When a passenger does notice trouble, they are almost always reassured with, "nothing is wrong - stay calm" but they know better. I'm glad I jumped ship when I did and it's good to know there are other boats in the water to "rescue" windows users as needed. Oh, Micro$oft, you could've been so much more... MS users, welcome aboard! (Apple market share up 30% year over year - a hole in MS's hull that keeps getting bigger) Whoa if ya think Microsoft is unsinkable! Mr. Gates and Mr. Balmer may not care about a sinking boat at this point as they own or can buy islands now... (Mercury Venus Earth Mars Gates Balmer Uranus Neptune and the rock that's farthest out) I digress.
First you want to zune me, then you want to vista me?

Blow.
I got your backwards hick version right here: http://mac.web.com/dorseycoe

Play nice now, you can't afford to lose anymore teeth.
I think he's flipping US off... all of US.
Something many of you are failing to discern is this. There are many people out there that have had their ideas/patents/trade secrets stolen. Do you know how hard it is to get investment capital for an innovative idea that you would like to manufacture, when big corporation X is already manufacturing? I've seen large companies blatantly steal ideas from little guys who came to them looking for a financial partner, more than once. I've seen companies hedge their bet that they could make more off of the product in the meantime, that even if they did lose a court battle (what a fair fight, big corps 30 lawyers against your one) that they would have made enough money to pay for the infringement. Yes, this is the american way, but you are all on the wrong side I think because you are uninformed. Here's an novel approach (patent pun intended). You come up with an idea that hasn't already been patented. You pay for the thing and do all the work needed to get the patent issued. (have any idea how much time and money that is?) THEN you might be in a position to understand/appreciate anyone who has had a patent issued and why they might have a right to defend it. Maybe I am biased. I had a company invite me to their headquarters and even after signing nondiclosures, steal my idea, apply for a patent on it themselves immediately after our presentation, then respond to my objections with a "what are you going to do about it?". If you are of the mental capacity to conceive of something new, I suggest you save your pennies and pursue it privately. If you have not invented, you might want to reserve judgement. It's harder than you think. Flame away.
Why didn't I think of this? Maybe my Vista install CD/DVD should self destruct after installing so noone can steal it and pirate my OS.
Oh, wait, maybe that's why most of the original/new vista features have already dissapeared.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
