I completed sim city 2000 so I'm looking forward to completing this...
This is totally expected and is exactly the same for any new type of technology that differs by any degree from an existing encumbant

Everything is optimised for the technology that has the greatest market share and as soon as there are enough SSD's in the marketplace for it to be worth their time. OS vendors are going to start optimising their systems to make their platform the most attractive for early adopters.
For the record it was called Half Life: Uplink
I thought the groundbreaking UE3 game was called fracture?
Anyone else tried rotating the screen and reading the disclaimer warning about your TV bursting into flames if it isn't designed to be rotated?

The extra real-estate makes it worth the increased blazeability if you ask me...
Steam solves this particular problem by allowing users to sort games by metacritic rating and while this may not be appropriate for XBLA games (alot of the major review sites don't tend to review XBLA games in quite the same way as fully fledged retail titles), some kind of independant scoring system (if possible from aggregated sounrce rather than a single one) would be a great way of allowing the good stuff to rise to the top.

It's not surprising that a game such as N+ has sparked off this debate. The game has polarised opinions with some loving it (i fall in that camp!) and others thinking its a piece of tripe. Ironically an aggregate scoring system would not really help N+ as it would probably score an average rating!
what happens when they want to retry half way through the race?
@ xenocidic

god I hope you are right!
Hate to be a grammar troll but myriad is one of those words whose constant misuse is a regular annoyance.

As a noun, myriad means ten thousand, or a great number (a myriad of aircraft). In this case, you're not using myriad to modify: it's the subject. As an adjective, myriad means "having innumerable aspects or elements" (those myriad challenges - the myriad activity of the people - myriad butterflies).

Sorry to be so petty!
@#7 its easy to dismiss this list as something trivial but the fact of the matter is its very impressive to have fostered so much third party talent and to create a system that allows the creation of all this great content. Just look at the awful job that nintendo has done in attracting third parties to THEIR platform.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"My father-in-law is heading back to school in the spring and wants a laptop for Christmas. The only catch is their budget is around $400 and he does not want a netbook. He's not very "tech savvy" at all and doesn't need a hoss of a machine (not that $400 could get you one). We would like to get it for him as soon as possible and would love some input."
