PowerGenix NiZn rechargeable AA batteries: finally, some cells worth buying {Engadget}

Nov 9th 2009 11:47AM A 'battery' is comprised of cells - your laptop battery will probably contain between 3 and 6.

I suppose when considering an individual... er... "Duracel", either would work, as the battery is in fact comprising only one cell. Hence, a pack of cells, or a pack of batteries.

Colloquially, the terms have become interchangeable, and in the main, only those deeply involved in the area, science teachers, and the anal retentive will complain if you use either term out of turn.

Jul 27th 2009 8:59AM Nice idea, but the human olfactory sense is pretty poor and shuts down any new smell after about 10 minutes. Unless thing is changing up the odour every few minutes you're not going to notice much. It's also worth noting in the same breath that there is a limit to the number of different sequential smells you can discern in a given time period.

Apr 13th 2009 5:50AM I think you've come close to asking an important question here leitxo. My mobile phone battery, along with most other Li-ion batteries has a quoted lifetime of around 300 cycles. In my experience, you can start to see significant drop off in performance long before this point. When people purchase cars, they usually expect them to last a long time - comfortably 10 years. Although I accept that people buying high end sports vehicles swap them more often than this, they usually hope for at least a fractional resale value.

Will the owner of this car have to spend £x,000 every couple of years to replace the battery kit?
