Rendered Speculation: Fiat Topolino by Paolo Martin {Autoblog}

Jul 2nd 2008 10:47PM I agree that this thing looks pretty atrocious, but the designer of the Ferrari Modulo needs some respect here. That is one of the most epic concepts ever designed. I think that the original doesn't really lend itself to a retro remake. A 2CV would be more interesting.

Western Digital intros My Passport Essential external HDD {Engadget}

Jan 30th 2008 6:10PM I have one of these, but the usb cord was stolen. What are my options to draw enough power? I bought a $1.99 replacement 6' rosewill cord from newegg, but it apparently doesn't draw enough power. The OEM replace is a whopping $20+$8 shipping. Anyone found a workable replacement?

Detroit 2008: Cadillac CTS Coupe Concept proves 2 doors is better than 4 {Autoblog}

Jan 14th 2008 9:31PM Cadillac and Audi are the two makes that are really at their design pinnacle right now with a clear design direction and relationship across their line.

The previous CTS was one of the only domestic cars to really stand out for me and the updated version is a total knock-out. I really like this coupe version, but I admit I also love hatchbacks (I'm a little euro). The c-pillar at first was a bit awkward and reminded me of a Delorean, but it is starting to grow on me how flat the surfacing is. I love the angularity of the DLO and the surfacing details of the rear.

The one thing I absolutely hate is the interior. It seems like the interior and the exterior team aren't communicating at all. While the exterior is all about simple, angular, carved surfaces, the interior looks like a collection of those really horrible Ferrari branded clothes and merchandise which aren't designed by Pininfarina. The interior looks cheap and overdone which is exactly what the exterior isn't. Redo the interior to have more of the simple elegance and strength like the outside and they have a winner.

MINI-killa: Saab 9-1 headed for London Motor Show {Autoblog}

Dec 5th 2007 12:04PM I think the reality is that the average consumer doesn't know that Saab is owned by GM and still associate it with mid-level european luxury. It is a great segment for them to expand into and I think it would find a lot of buyers if the price and the packaging is right. Although you Mini S prices can skyrocket past 30K easily with options, you can also option lightly and not lose much in terms of function and style and come in around 23K. I hope that Saab takes this line of marketing and pricing as well.

Amateur designer daydreams: the Porsche Carma Concept {Autoblog}

Nov 19th 2007 4:44PM I like it. Still evolutionary, but with a bit of Lancia Stratos thrown in for the greenhouse. I love how much the rear looks like the old 928s as well.
