Oh and 'by one' most of the time, if you couldnt tell in my original post was the ps2.
Im well aware that these havnt shipped yet just in case some nit picker is going to tear my post apart because i got carried away and went off on one.
I am honestly in no rush to get one.
As much as sony want this to be more than a console, a computer, a media hub etc its not.
At the end of the day it carries the playstation brand.

My folks, aunties, uncles, grandpa's are not going to buy this especially at the price.
The kids do, how many people actually have this in their living room?
Mostly the kids have it in their bedrooms/den.
I cant think of anyone over the age of 25 that has one in the living room.
And lets face it, you need an extension on your house to get this thing through the door and to build a big enough place to put it.
Like you mum/dad/gf is going to want this in the living room, you would get bitch slapped before you even touched the controller god forbid their favorite soap was on...
Nintendo and Msft have got it right.
Its cheap enough for everyone to access it and above all its realistic and in tune with what people actually want and can afford.
How about the imac?

I have a 20 inch intel and that uses the same graphics chip as far as i am aware.

Would i be right in thinking that this is underclocked to?

If so, i would imagine the imac would be far better at dealing with the excess heat?
Oh god, the guy has his email on the site.
I cant even begin to imagine what lies in his inbox after that shocking article.
96 funny.... if the mac platform is sow beneath you why do you grace us with your presence because i can assure you no mac fan wants you here.
Same goes to eveyone else who has some snidy comments, if its such a stupid idea etc why read the story, why comment?
It has its uses and some times you really do need that app that is only available on windows and be dammed if i am going to buy a whole box. Thats your answer 36.
51... where do i start, schoolboys sell pc's on ebay that they made from parts. Plugging in ram and graphics cards etc into the only socket on a motherboad that will fit it is not hard.
Many people who choose a mac a far more computer litterate than you average dell buyer. Taking the time to hack EFI that allows windows xp to boot on it when it is not supported is far more challenging then custom building a pc.
In fact, having the stones to apply this to an imac is far more risky than building your own pc.
How many windows users have hacked their bios and replaced it? The bios hasnt changed in decades so its not like it didnt need an excuse to be hacked because its far from perfect... enter efi
I have a new 17 inch core duo imac and my step dad has a 1.8 G5 imac.
I can honestly say that my core due feels twice as fast and in many ways blows the G5 out of the water.
And the thing is, these apps are only going to get faster as developers learn all the tricks of the trade with the new processor.
Is Jobs lying? Well maybe yes as in about a year or so this very machine i am writing this comment on is probably going to run faster than it does at the moment. Now there is value for money...
I agree with Michael Boutros, even if the user was just a casual mac user who knew nothing of macworld logic dictates that being the last week of 2005 it might be worth holding back for an inevitable 2006 version. Its not like New iLife 05! was plastered all over apples site as what it is now. This should clearly show this is an established product.
I also agree with the comment that it is a steal for the money.
I really dont know of any alternatives that deliver such ease of use, functionality and quality at such a low price.
A lot of thought, work and effort clearly goes into making the iLife software and I would pay close to $79 just for one app! (bar iTunes)!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am looking for the best geotagging camera currently available. The most important feature for me is the accuracy of the GPS module, so any hard specs on satellite receiver would be really useful. Thanks for your time!"
