ThinkPad X300
From: $3,225.00*

1GB RAM

vs MacBook Air
From: $1,799.00
Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1.6GHz
2GB RAM

The ThinkPad does have a solid state drive, but other than that it's a tough call -- do you really need a dvd burner in your ultra portable? If so, surprise, you can get a 13" MacBook that's slightly thicker than the ThinkPad (since ThinkPad thinks it's OK to be thicker than the MacBook Air, it's only fair) for almost 1/3 the cost.

"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
