I think we know the real reason behind academia's disdain for electronic readers in general; college textbooks COST a LOT more than regular books. I doubt they would be able to ask the same amount of cash for a virtual book than a real one.

Besides, at the end of semester, a dozen or so textbooks burn SO much longer and brighter than a single Kindle would.
Cool stuff, but as someone noted above, there is only concrete, glass and hardwood floors -- why spend $90K on speakers for a room that has the acoustics of a raquetball court?
Note to William:

Buying or owning a product, any product, does not make you any more or less special than you were before you owned it.
So you got a bazillion "tips" from "all" followers of engadget about the iPhone/walmart debut and that photo is the best they (you) came up with?
Now the Wii Fit is something that actually just might remain in stock at Walmart.
Three quarters of a billion dollars for a few dozen space suits!?

Until all of America's children are no longer hungry, there is no more war in Iraq (at least the US presence there) and there is a viable alternative fuel vehicle put on the road all Americans should be very, very ashamed.

A couple of threads ahead of this they are talking about how the government is "subsidizing" a new plug in hybrid car! How much? 30 MILLION, not 725 Billion!!!

What a laugh.

Buchenwald concentration camp... In 1948? 1948? Three years after the end of WWII??

You guys might know something about gadgets but you don't know zip about history.
"Probably just put part of the radiator inside the thawing compartment, a good way to utilize otherwise wasted energy."

Putting a heater in a freezer compartment savesenergy?
I've heard that food defrosts if you take it out of the freezer.
Obesity will soon be the leading cause of death in the US. There was a recent study that found that even INFANTS have shown an increase in overweight in this country.

McDonald's and fast food culture in general, as we know, is a big contributor to these morbid statistics.

America is polluting the earth like no other. Global warming is denied by only a few true idiots anymore, and one of the main sources of this pollution come from the gas-powered automobile.

America is also killing it's own youth and the populations of several other countries at the moment in order to get her hands on more oil.

I think the inclusion of the symbol of the biggest gas guzzler (hence polluter) with the most notorious outlet of fatty foods for fatty-assed Americans is "a no-brainer."

Just watch America burn itself into an oil-driven heart attack. Unless you're fat, then of course you will probably die before it happens.

Fatso.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a wireless trackpad to use with my older (2.5 or so years old) C2D MacBook that's perpetually docked to my home theater. Something sleek, thin, not too small, made of high quality materials. Ideally, it would natively support all of (Snow) Leopard's multitouch inputs, and even more ideally, it would have a charging dock / base. The only problem is that I'm not sure that such a thing even exists. Think you can throw me a bone?"
