Jul 11th 2009 12:04AM Isn't ESN swapping very illegal?

Sprint mandating WiFi on future smartphones, WLAN-lovin' BlackBerry Tour coming next year {Engadget}

Jul 10th 2009 1:45AM Err, I think that's blatantly false. At the least, latency sucks on cell phone connections, and in any case, not paying for a data plan is a huge money saver.

Mechwarrior 4 free on BattleTech.com 'soon' {Joystiq}

Jul 10th 2009 12:02AM You guys are awesome. This goes beyond words, and can only be expressed by the awesomeness that is MechWarrior. 21 gauss gun salute for you guys :).

Mechwarrior 4 free on BattleTech.com 'soon' {Joystiq}

Jul 9th 2009 11:58PM MechWarrior really is timelessly awesome, probably because it was never tainted with the console touch :P.

New MechWarrior a reboot, called ... MechWarrior {Joystiq}

Jul 9th 2009 11:04AM @naomio: Microsoft disbanded FASA, which is why Smith and Tinker was formed from the relics of FASA. But still, a MechWarrior game on anything other than PC is blasphemy anyway, so I doubt this would hit PS3.

New MechWarrior a reboot, called ... MechWarrior {Joystiq}

Jul 9th 2009 10:56AM Hell yeah. This is going to be amazing. Between this and MechWarrior: Living Legends, the Crysis mod that looks phenomenal, it's a good time to be a MechWarrior fan. Reports of our demise has been greatly exaggerated it seems.

Video: AMD's Phenom II X4 TWKR CPU for extreme overclocking lunatics {Engadget}

Jun 30th 2009 7:09PM The legitreviews article makes it clear that they mean 100mhz/200mhz above the regular parts' top speeds, which is fairly significant. Basically, these parts are CPUs that are less power efficient and need a higher voltage, and usually overclockers need to raise the core voltage to get higher clock speeds, so AMD figured instead of throwing them away slap a funny acronym on them and ship them out to reviewers for some free PR.

ASUS rolls out RT-N16 wireless router {Engadget}

Jun 30th 2009 2:14PM I think with DD-WRT you can just use a USB hub, although personally I haven't been able to get DD-WRT to work as a print server for my Asus WL-520gU, which is a cheap 802.11g router with a USB port and Linux based. I'm kind of amazed that this one has 128MB of RAM, since my piddly little router only has 16MB, but I'm sure they charge a ton for this, and for the N too.

Windows 7's sexy new taskbar + clunky old start menu = Seven Classic Start {Download Squad}

Jun 30th 2009 2:08AM Umm, I think in general the keyboard usually wins over mouse for speed. Not sure what you're talking about.

Windows 7 pre-orders sell-out in Japan {Engadget}

Jun 29th 2009 3:43AM Yeah, I should get on ordering mine. But hopefully Microsoft will be smart and not artificially limit this special sale price, since these are freaking preorders anyway.
