It's stories like this that make me hug my Mac. (OS X doesn't even have a registration key.)
Chris, a 10.5.0 doesn't follow from a 10.4.9 release. The numbers are not sequential, they are distinct from each other. Each build number represents its own meaning.

This means Apple could release a 10.4.10, or 11, and so on.
Known Issues
- One must use the reversioner to update from a previous seeded version of 10.4.9. Updating to 8P2132 without using the reversioner may cause AirPort not to work.

What a backward way of working around the problem. I would rather see a solution to the overheating that reduces the heat, and doesn't underclock the CPU.
A clever strategy to curtail Job's stance on DRM. Now the rumour mill will spread the words that Job's favours FairPlay and not about giving DRM the "old yeehoo."

Some good damage control by the RIAA there.
No, no, no, no, no... no. You guys got the quote wrong. It was meant to read as such:

"Nowadays, security guys break Windows every single day. Every single day, they come out with a total exploit, your machine can be taken over totally. I dare anybody to do that once a month on a Mac machine."
How you will control an open source community bent on freedom and difference is beyond me. The driving force behind Linux is the need to break down barriers and not be bound to any one way.

This results in a sea of like products that most invariably fizzle out or die because of lack of development. Code is written by "whomever" and because of the very nature of open source, accepted into upstream builds with minimal lack of testing.

The one component of Linux, the kernel, is heavily guarded by Linux et al., and amusingly enough remains solid; perhaps because it is heavily controlled.

Linux will not be viable till you get all heads of the hydra aiming the same way and tame the beast. If you do not accomplish those Herculean tasks, it will undoubtedly be something for the tech-savy, or the Zealot.

Brining it mainstream means you need to instill controls, and the open source community will fight that till their last breath as it is every they stand against.
Oh dear Lord, not her again. Crops up on youtube with nothing but cheese. She is (naturally) pretty, but a complete phony. Just really un-charismatic, unoriginal, and did I already say, completely full of cheese...

Blah.
I'm sorry, but when you get talented, young, motivated developers together and all you come up with is a weather program and a cookbook, something is rotten in Denmark. What happened here? Were is the creativity? Where is the passion?

What a Frakenstein MPA turned out to be. And Portal? Who is going to care when Time Machine comes along with Leopard.

Colour me unimpressed with these two very dull, lifeless programs.
I'm sorry 25% of the market was taken by Zune? What market would that be? According to stats, Zune took a weak 9% on the first week and then a pathetic 2% on the 2nd week of sales. They were beat out by competitors such as Samsung and others (and still are). The Zune has a sliver of the portable media player market. 25%? Maybe in Ballmer-land it's 25%.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
