Unlike CFLs or Traditional bulbs, the 30,000 hour rating is also a 70% output rating, meaning they will last much longer than 30,000 hours, they will just put out less than 70% of the power they did at hour 1.
Glad to know I am not the only one who was thinking Phantasm....
Again, if he isn't physically on the officer and near the officers service revolver, then why do you assume he gets shot instead of tackled and subdued by the other two officers?

My point was the way, you, and others seem to think about police officers and what kind of people they are.
He would have to get pretty physical and close to take away the officers Taser. And since in your hypothetical situation he managed to get it without being Tased, it must have been on the officers belt where his service revolver is also kept.

So hypothetically speaking, in that kind of stressed situation where someone is wrestling with an officer who has a real firearm also and you don't know what he is doing or going after, you think he should be given the benefit of the doubt and the cop should just wait and see before he does anything? Oh, I forgot, you had to other cops there. So criminal boy goes after your fellow officer and starts wrestling for something on his belt. Again, do you stand there and wait to see what he comes away with or take action?

Why are people so hell bent on calling criminals victims no matter what they do? Just like my previous post, you make the assumption that all officers put on the badge just so they can shoot someone. If you believe they are all that corrupt, call them and tell them not to get involved when someone puts you family in imminent danger.
The average police salary is around $40,000/year. For that, they get crap shifts, and constant worrying. Because the next time they ask for license and registration they made get a bullet in the face instead. Their families get to worry all the same.

Now, some meth/crack head comes at a cop & won't stop when told to stop, the criminal is not the one I feel sorry for when the trigger gets pulled and he dies. Whether it's a taser or a firearm.

Most of the anti-gun anti-taser posts/articles I read seem to assume that every police officer would rather kill someone than have them just submit and sit down in the back of a police car. Almost every time, it seems like they assume every police officer is some meat head that only joined the force to beat people.

There may be a few of those out there, but the ones that I know personally (my grandfather was also a police officer) do it because they actually feel good about protecting the communities where they live. It sure isn't for the money or respect they so rarely get.

I guess what I am saying is, criticize the Taser company, or the firearm manufacturers, but don't make blanket statements about officers until you strap on a badge in the morning and worry all day about making it home to your family.

If my family or yours were in imminent danger, I wouldn't want a cop to pause and consider whether or not he could get sued or loose his job. I would want him to put down the threat.
Forget buying legal, legit CD's, then ripping them and copying them to my mp3 player only to get sued. I'll just start downloading mp3's illegally and save my money for the lawsuit that's coming no matter how I get my music.
@ hi2u & @ spyyder
Highest per capita income and median housing cost below $100,000
Housing cost was the factor, I was so irritated that I looked right over it.

I don't think that disqualifies my argument at all...
@ Hi2u
Funny, my stat also cam from Wiki
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Places_in_the_United_States_with_notable_demographic_characteristics

But I only knew to look for it because I read it in another place in the past. I just couldn't remember what the source was, so I searched. After looking at your sources and the differences, I am guessing that all these lists are factoring more than just "income" into the equation.

@ shanoboy:
I know what people think when they hear "South" or "Alabama", but the vast majority of students in the Birmingham school district are Black. And, I can promise you that none of them live on farms or listen to very much Lynard Skynard. The major challenger in the election that just passed was either mixed race or a light skinned black man. There was a big controversy over an editorial cartoon that basically said he was too white to win the election. Next time you want to stereotype an entire area, at least know who your trying to throw the blanket over.

@ spyyder
Just an hour & 1/2 from Birmingham is Huntsville. They have the Highest Per Capita Income in the country (Population in excess of 50,000). Again, don't throw out a blanket stereotype if you don't know who you are throwing it over.

@ everyone
I get a little testy when people start bashing my state. For the past several years, I worked in a business where I traveled extensively throughout the country. What I have found from reading your news papers, and staying in your cities, is that we all have more in common than we would like to believe.

In recent years we have been loosing kids from the public education system to Private Schools in droves. Is that a bad thing? I don't think so, but I am just an ignorant "Red-Neck" from central Bama.

Oh, the child in me is dying for this.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I love my little computing companion but I often find myself missing a full sized keyboard. I have been looking at several of these portable and flexible keyboards, but I can't seem to make up my mind about which I should buy. I don't want the keyboard to be overly expensive, but I want it to be good quality. Also, how difficult is it to type on these keyboards? Thanks!"
