Acer launches first NVIDIA Ion-based nettop: AspireRevo {Engadget}
Apr 8th 2009 4:02AM It took me a very long time to figure it out the right codec, but I now have GPU accelerated 1080p h264 playback using my onboard Nvidia 9300 GPU (which is what the ION supposedly uses). Even though mine is a Core 2, the CPU usage is less than 5% when playing Blu-ray. So I think you're off there. You shouldn't need anything more than an Atom so long as the DXVA is working. DVXA is not the same as CUDA. With DVXA, the GPU literally acts as a hardware decoder doing almost all the work. DVXA is how crappy Pentium III laptops 7 years ago could playback DVD movies. Not to mention Nvidia's entire CES hype of this thing is that it can play Blu-ray.

Apr 8th 2009 3:52AM That thing is gigantic! The ION board at CES had a footprint similar to a credit card. This thing looks like a regular ITX board.
HABEY intros Atom N270-powered mini HTPC, makes it crunch 1080p {Engadget}
Mar 11th 2009 6:44PM So nobody's seen a mini-ITX system before??? Why is this such a big deal that people think it's fake? Mini-ITX boards that can do Blu-ray have been out for a while.
Netflix finally brings 'Watch Instantly' to Macs via Silverlight {Engadget}

The only one kidding himself is you. The movie studios required Netflix to use Silverlight because of the DRM. The Flash DRM has not been signed off by the studios. Silverlight DRM has.

Poll: How's your iPhone 3G reception? {Engadget}
Jul 17th 2008 3:19PM There's definitely something strange going on. I get one bar of reception on all of San Vicente in West LA. My old 3G phone (HTC hermes) got three bars on that same road.
But other 3G areas I get full four bars.

Jul 16th 2008 10:10PM I must be old. Last rave I went to (circa 1999) every other dude wore a visor.
