Palm's Ed Colligan confirms: no new Palm OS till end of 2008 {Engadget}

Oct 3rd 2007 11:57AM Maybe they mean next fiscal year?

If this is true, and they're not going to get their new OS out the door until calendar year 2009, then they're just done. What are they doing, just starting now?

My 700p is fine, but my next phone is going to be an HTC.

Palm has never been an innovator, and this is just another example that it's a corporate problem. Remember how long it took them to add color? The IIIc was a piece of crap and was shoved out the door so that they could claim to have a color device.

The Treo was neat when it first came out, but they haven't made any significant changes since the 600 was released. Where's Wifi? How about a thinner device? What about MicroSD?

Apple's lawyers called, the iPod nano "phatty" is apparently the real deal {Engadget}

Aug 23rd 2007 4:36PM I would buy this. What's with all the hate? A little, tiny iPod that has a larger screen than the Nano, but an aluminum case and the ability to play video?

Rumored specs for Sony's Advanced Amateur Alpha DSLR hit the net {Engadget}

Aug 14th 2007 12:47PM Also, I guess that means its a 1.2 crop. Closer, but I'm surprised that they'd go with something that's not compatible with DX lenses.

Rumored specs for Sony's Advanced Amateur Alpha DSLR hit the net {Engadget}

Aug 14th 2007 12:13PM That means the Nikon D200 replacement will probably use the same sensor, or at least a substantially similar one.

Palm launching Foleo on August 22nd? {Engadget}

Jul 17th 2007 4:14PM I'm mad, but not because the Foleo is going to be a huge (huge) flop, but because they're not spending any time updating the Treo.

Guys, here's a hint: have your employees work on products that people actually want to buy. Where's that new Palm OS? How about an update for the Treo that isn't worthless?

Here's a plan for profitability:

1. Finish your new OS. This should be your first priority.
2. Release a device like the Q, but with the Palm OS. It needs to be very slim, have an internal antenna, and the touchscreen is optional.
3. Release a device like the HTC Mogul. It needs to have an excellent screen and WiFi, but can otherwise be like the devices you've been putting out. It also needs significant internal storage, like the LifeDrive. I'm thinking at least 16GB with a additional removable Micro SD card.

And here are some hints:
1. Stop selling off your operating systems.
2. Stop putting MiniSD into devices. It's a worthless storage form factor. MicroSD or SD should be fine.
3. Stop wasting money on projects like the Foleo. What's wrong with you?
4. Fire Jeff Hawkins, invest some money in Numeta and let him work for that company or at least don't let him run any projects or get in the way of your development teams.

Sony mulling production of mylo 2 handheld? {Engadget}

Jun 15th 2007 10:06AM Things Sony should change:

1. Add Bluetooth, as others have pointed out.
2. Add an SD or micro SD card slot. MemoryStick is a dying format.
3. Lower the price. $350 is a tough price for this device. If they can get it to $200 or less, then they'll have a winner.
4. Release an SDK so that people can write applications for the device. I'd love to be able to SSH into remote servers from this thing.
5. Add AIM. What were they thinking?
