"its SL820 took the top prize in our recent summer shootout."

Right, your highly flawed shootout....
I agree, it almost seems like an advert for Samsung.

P&S < $400 is too broad of a category.
If you're planning on comparing cameras, compare similar cameras at the SAME price, not the same camera across a spectrum.

"if you don't need the 20x zoom or other more gimmicky features"
That's the whole point of this camera and other super zooms. You can't get a DSLR with a paired lens in the same zoom range for the same price...
Oh yeah! Buy American! Wait, are we in the 80s again?

Why don't you guys just throw away everything you own that's not designed or produced by an American company then?
Heh, you probably won't see Engadget updating to reflect PS2 backwards compatibility.. simply because it's positive Sony news..
Hello? The Mini-Disc was huge in Asia. Just because it wasn't a roaring success in North America doesn't mean the format never went anywhere.

You can all argue about video quality that, amazon ranking this but in reality, people next year are going to wonder where all the HD DVD movies are. If they want Casino Royale or Disney movies, guess what? They'll have to buy a Blu-ray player.
It doesn't mean much if the software you want is on the PS3.
Typical Sony post... A very brief write up about what was presented at the event (a few posts down) and a bigger write up about some price comparison chart. Is Engadget losing its focus?
Of course, the penetration rate of HD DVD and Blu Ray is so minimal that even though the HD DVD may be ahead in sales, it really doesn't mean much for now since the sales numbers are insignificant compared with DVD.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
