Ask Engadget: Which are the best earbuds? {Engadget}
Dec 6th 2007 11:13PM I swear by my Shure E3Cs. I bought them 3 years ago and after 2 years they part of the cord that wraps around the ears frayed and stopped working, but they were extremely helpful and sent me a brand new pair, no questions asked.
On the other hand, I tried Etymotic er6i and the difference was night and day. I spent maybe 3/4 as much on them but they were much flimsier and they stopped working after maybe 2 months of usage. Unlike Shure, I could not get a refund or anything.
I used to use the foam earbuds but realized they got gross way too frequently (and are sort of expensive) so I've switched to the normal plastic sleeves - they are comfortable and cleaner/more hygienic.
