Proprietary is insecure!

Oh wait, open standards are insecure!

Next round of motherboards are going to have very few PATA connectors.

Why not SATA? eSATA would be even better!
Anyone who buys a chip from Intel that isn't based on the Core architecture is an idiot.

And Intel will only be at 20% of its production for Core chips by the end of the year.

That means 80% of its chips are destined for morons ... or the dumpster.
"Woodcrest (the server version of Core2) is already demolishing the highest-end Opterons,"

Woodcrest is only a 2 socket solution. 4 cores.

Opteron scales up to 8 sockets / 16 cores and totally demolishes Intels offerings in that area.

If you could buy Woodcrests. I believe first delivery is still weeks away.
Heath,

While it is true the Core 2 Duo is faster than AMD's offerrings, they Intel chips are not for sale yet.

AMD has promised that the price/performance crown will stay with them and have confirmed massive price cuts.

The important points are:

1) Don't buy a PC until after the price cuts.

2) AMD might still be the best choice because Intels will be in short supply.

3) Don't buy an Intel 9xx or 8xx because they are overpriced. slow, energy hogs.
As LCD monitors (or maybe e-paper) become cheaper and cheaper, people will use them to replace paper objects like posters and calendars and photos.

This is cool.
I think they should release it now, charge 129$ for it, and then fix some of it by December, charge another 129$ for that version, and then release a version in the summer of 2007 that finally gets most of it right and charge another 129$ for it.

I mean ... how evil is it of Microsoft to support XP Pro for 10 years! They can't be allowed to get away with that. 18 months tops.

I think Google and EU should sue to demand support for XP Pro stops today! Its undermining business confidence in OS X and Linux when those operating systems only get 11 to 18 months of free security/bug fixes without an install of a new version!
I find it hilarious Apple apologists think burning their testicles is a nice "feature" Apple was kind enough to add to their laptop.
For that kind of money you could by a MacBook Pro!

... with a smaller lcd and a much slower graphics card.
There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml?xml=/opinion/2006/04/09/do0907.xml&sSheet=/news/2006/04/09/ixworld.html

And frankly, 1998 was an aberration caused mainly by a massive peat fire in Indonesia that dumped a massive amount of smoke and carbon into the atmoshpere and destroyed a huge carbon sink.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
