...and Apple TV becomes a paperweight.

Honestly, this has got to be the worst conceived product Apple has cranked out since Jobs came back to the company. (OK, maybe those iPod iSocks were worse, but I still think those were really a joke that went too far...) Forget about the 720 vs 1080 issues - for most viewers, either will be fine. But this thing is still an overpriced DVR that, oh by the way, doesn't work as a DVR. 300 bucks for a wireless connection from my computer to my TV, one that only works w/ iTunes? You've gotta be kidding me. The least they could have done is thrown a DVD player in there, so you could justify it to the wife as a DVD player plus, instead of a crippled wireless dongle. Look, I'm an Apple fanboy, and I think the iPhone looks sweet. But this TV thing is a half-baked step child. Even the name is stupid. The real damage here is going to be to Apple's cred... After this bombs, studios are going to be gun-shy to "throw in" and will be more pushy; Steve's air of invincibility will deflate; and Apple's stock will fall to earth. June can't get here soon enough...
Martin, Martin, Martin -

What's with the vitrol? And why such a bias? As long as you are going to scream FACT at everyone who criticizes you, I'll scream a few back...

FACT - The million-uni-sales-in-first-year figure for the Zune, which received wide coverage in the press and is treated as gospel here, was from a Microsoft press release. No ACTUAL sales numbers to date were provided. Based on the FACT that the Zune is being handily outsold by not just both 30 GB iPods but also a very comparable Zen 30 GB player on Amazon, predicting future sales over 52 weeks after 6 weeks of spiking then declining sales seems like a fool's errand...

FACT - When the iPod first came out, it only worked w/ Mac, which as everyone knows are a small fraction (3-5%) of the total computers out there.

FACT - Furthermore, the entire MP3 market was different in 2001. Comparing markets now with markets then is crazy, especially for a product category that has acheived much greater market penetration over that time. For example, when cell phones first came out, sales of a given successful were no doubt much lower than they are today. So comparing sales figures from "then" and "now" is, in FACT, not really so easy as just looking at numbers.

FACT - Microsoft is not just "some company" and thats why it isn't treated as one. When one of the largest and most successful companies in the world enters a new market, people take notice. And of course, they scrutinize the product offered.

Instead of assuming all your critics are Apple fanboys, you would be well served to stick to reporting FACTS in a balanced and thoughtful matter, and not just parroting MS press releases and other web sites.
Wonder if this will get the same press....
Next week, when MS falls to #4 again, behind SanDisk and Creative.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I commonly need to boot a system from an external disc and take a snapshot of the host system. I also then need to burn a copy of the image to a DVD. While I can do it with two separate external devices, and two power supplies, and two I/O cables, it'd be nice to find a small dual-drive enclosure. It would need to have USB, eSATA, and FireWire. Either slim-line or half-height bay for the optical burner would be fine, and space for either a 2.5- or 3.5-inch hard disc. Any ideas?"
