I think this would be better for wearable electronics, like using it to power a lilypad or something. That's what I'd do with it. No more battery pack in pocket, now you have it on your wrist! Or something.

I think it'd be more useful working with that than powering/charging a cell phone.
Actually, I've never seen a windows machine lost. I've seen a few macs where the owner actually took the laptop bag, looked at the laptop, and walked away with the empty bag. The security person then yells for them to go pick up the laptop.

I guess it's because all apple computers look the same. But there might be something to be said about some people who own apple computers...
I've had a swiss army bag for probably 4 years, using it for school. It's had my laptop in it for 2 of the 4 years. While it doesn't exactly look new, it still works, no rips, no tears, just some faded red/black. That's the only way you can tell it's old. Highly recommended.
DarkLight, that... I don't think that would work, considering how radio waves actually work. It wouldn't make a difference whether or not you were in the path or not, if both sources are the same distance, you're getting the same energy. Actually, if the laptop is between you and the router, I think you'd be getting more energy on the same side, so you'd feel it more. But that doesn't seem to be what's happening, as far as you say.

The real question is "Why not?"
I have a HP TX1220US, once I installed XP on it, I got great battery life, quick startup times, and found a calibration utility to heighten the sensitivity to the point where my finger would work.
I'd still rather have an active digitizer though. The graininess of the screen probably won't be there on a REAL tablet.
It was a bitch to get the drivers though. I'm not buying any more HP products because of it.
Even more of a problem considering, if I'm thinking right, these engines take a lot of power to operate. More than a standard motor/prop.
Well, you have to worry about static shock.
But I'd use it because it's a good way to just quickly back up old hard disks.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm pretty much a complete noob when it comes to camera stuff. My wife loves to take pictures, though. So much so that she literally wore out her first point and shoot camera, and the Kodak Z712 I bought for her less than two years ago is starting to act up as well. To compound the matter, we are expecting our first born sometime next year. I fear the Kodak just isn't going to cut it any longer. What would be the best starter DSLR to get? She hates missing photo opportunities due to camera 'lag' so speed would definitely be at the top of the list. Photo quality and features would be next. Price should be no more than $800. I'm not interested in video capabilities."
