by which I mean not blu-ray.. but just using it as a Media Canter...
will it do 1080p video out?

Which part of MEO did you not get?
wait.. are you saying we can't update our iPhones to 2.0!?!?

I mean of course 3G and GPS won't work.. but...
Uhm... they have a SOFTWARE store now.. thats how they're gonna make money.

And, btw, are iPhones STILL BARBARICALLY carrier locked?
I'd like to see the ability to install apps not only through iTunes but also on-the-go, via any website

Also, like with a Nokia, send an app via Bluetooth to your handset. Oh wait, Apple totally crippled Bluetooth.

I think users can determine for themselves if an app is safe or not. If they can't then well, that's evolution for you, survival of the fittest (and smartest)

I don't want a "training wheels" phone and service like AOL is/was with the internet, let me just do whatever I want
I've been running hacked iPhone with Orange since last Friday and also roamed into Belgium with it. All works pretty well.

I dont have a data plan unfortunately so I couldnt test that out

Usually when you miss a call and someone leaves a message you get an SMS that says you have a message, etc. That doesnt work anymore. I'm not sure why not seeing that its theoretically phone independent (i had 5 nokias previously, never configured anything to have that service)

My iPhone has frozen 3 times since the unlock, but otherwise, works relatively fine.
Easy
Preemptive pricing against the upcoming Google Phone (gPhone)
Uhm, freezing is 0 Celsius... I hope you were joking.. it's quite logical really.. 0 = freezing, 100= boiling

Unlike Fahrenheit which is based on a horse's temperature
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I am trying to configure out a really dumbed down and intuitive PC for my grandmother. She recently had a stroke and while she is under my care I would like to repurpose a laptop for her to surf and email her children. Anyone have any experience with what input devices and UI's are really understandable for the over 80 crowd?"
