Stop comparing the OLPC to bridges or food. That was never the original analogy.

The real question is twofold:
- would the money be better spent on more teachers?
- is it really necessary that every child have a PC, or is it sufficient that 10 kids share a single, more robust PC.
"It's one reason I haven't bought a UMPC yet - if they integrate EDGE or EVDO or have a better solution for external connectivity (i.e., one that is portable), I would definitely grab one though."

The Sony UX has integrated EDGE.
Little on the thick side, but I want one.

Site isn't loading though :/
Dimensions look nice. The .5 inch thickness is very slim, compared to Sony's 1.5 inch.
Too bad by 2010, there will be no more smartphone, only UMPC-phone.
Man, wish they had this in NYC. I'd gladly pay $20 a month if I can get a 1Mbps on my PDA anywhere in the city. Beats the hell out of a $40+ a month plan with Verizon for similar speed EV-DO. (Yes I know I can tether for free, but its risky)
Mossberg may be the biggest Apple fanboy on the face of the planet, so I'd take any review he does of an Apple product with a grain of salt.
Page is in Japanese, can't find link to video. Can someone post a direct link to it?
Looks pretty versatile.

If the price is right, I'll probably get one.
lol I bet none of you have ever heard of the language Kannada, but I speak it and I'm glad to see its getting some publicity :)
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I have a MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 and I would like to get a 20- to 24-inch display that will support both devices. The speakers should be inbuilt, or there should be an aux out on the display to hook up external speakers. Help! Please!"
