Gmail adds email translation features: Is this helpful? {Download Squad}
May 20th 2009 8:50AM I can say, as a former teacher in a predominantly Hispanic area, this would have been useful for corresponding with parents. I would use my work email to correspond with them, so in gmail it wouldn't do me very good, but in the email system we used, it would have been nice to have this feature.

FCC tentatively approves XM / Sirius merger {Engadget}
Jul 23rd 2008 6:23PM Why would people be so against this merger? If you don't want satellite radio, don't buy it. There are many people who are perfectly happy with terrestrial radio and that's fine for them. I have Sirius and I only listen to terrestrial radio on a rare occasion for sports talk. I would listen more if the commercials weren't so prevalent, but I am willing to pay for the level of entertainment I get from Sirius and to escape all those commercials. I am WILLING to pay. I don't need to pay. It has been made clear that prices will not be going up if this merger ever actually goes through, and it will give people who want satellite MORE choices. I would love to have the option to choose a different package next time I re-up my subscription.
This shakedown by the FCC is the result of nothing more than corruption in our government. These companies are still young and are struggling to find their footing and lobbyists are so afraid that their outdated business model will be further threatened by other means of entertainment (such as Sirius/XM, internet radio, downloading music and podcasts) that they are trying everything they can to cripple one of those forms of competition. Just the fact that they are so threatened proves that there is competition... the one thing that preventing monopolies is supposed to protect.

Rock Band 2 will support PS3 Trophies {Joystiq Playstation}
Jul 17th 2008 11:04AM I think this is going to be another thing that hurts the PS3. I am pretty sure I won't be getting GH: World Tour, but I'm really excited about RB2 and I know I am going to be very impatient (as you said) when other people are playing the game and I have to wait. Honestly, the blu-ray player might be the only thing keeping me from getting rid of my PS3 right now for an xbox 360, and I don't even watch blu-ray movies on it very often. The free online is good too, but... I don't know... I'm realizing that the xbox 360 seems to have several advantages. I just know as soon as I decide to jump ship, something is going to make me regret it. The only good answer seems to be to get both, but I can't justify spending that much money.

Jul 17th 2008 10:38AM Somehow "just as great an experience" doesn't seem to cut it when we're getting the game late.

Jul 16th 2008 9:43AM It is becoming more and more difficult to be a PS3 owner. I know people may assume I'm an xbox fanboy posing as a PS3 owner, but seriously... I own a PS3 (60 gig) and I am seriously considering switching to an xbox 360 right now. Rock Band 2 coming out a month and a half earlier, now this, all the issues that have come up with various games. There seems to be a consensus that the PS3 is surging forward, but I don't know... I'm not seeing it. The PS3 has been steadily getting better through firmware updates and for various reasons, but I'm really leaning toward selling/trading in my PS3 soon.

Jul 15th 2008 1:08PM I noticed that too... and if it's implemented well it sounds like it'll provide me with lots more hours of entertainment. I'm pretty excited about that feature.
