If you were into transformers as a kid, and I mean really into them then just go see the movie because if nothing else you'll get a kick out of it, but don't go in expecting some sort of masterpeice, the movie wasn't made for that it was made for your aveage 20-something who grew up on the transformers cartoon/comics and just wants to watch a movie about transformers.

I grew up on the transformers and personally I thought the movie was great, and considering it was 1 of only 2 movies I've seen get a standing ovation at the end (Serenity was the other) I guess I'm not the only one.

Just MHO
McJerk, exact same thing came to my mind as soon as I saw this. For those of who haven't read it, I highly recommend when you have some free time. Gives you something to think about.
I have agree with Erik's points most of all. I love the fact that they introduced so many more mutants, although I would have thought angel to have a bigger part (He is one of the original 4 after all), I guess the followed more along the lines of the ultimate series where he was quite hesitant at first with getting invovled with the team.

Erik's other point about this being a completely different story line is right on the money. These movies are to the comic books what the Ultimate Series is to the original Uncanny's, they are not just comic books made into movies but rather are movies that are using the same characters and plot points as the comics in a unique storyline. I Personally think that it had to be done this way, I know a few people that were upset by the fact that the movies strayed so far from the comics, but the fact is that there is so much history in the marvel universe regarding the x-men that it just wouldn't work. In the end I was quite happy with the movie and I don't think Ratner was a issue at all. I really hope that this doesn't turn out to be the last one.
Ok I might be missing something here but movie blog released this yesterday.

It basically states that fox will be making a 4th and that the only reason for "The Last Stand" title was that this is the final movie in this chapter/trilogy. And we all know that you can't die any less then 5 times in the marvel universe so I don't think it'll be a problem bringing characters back.

I'm not sure how on the up and up this report on movie blog is, the link just happened to be on a forum that I routinely visit.
Rogue started out young but she followed magneto for a while originally. During a battle in San Fransisco Rogue used her absorption power against Ms. Marvel but for some reason Rogue kept the powers and thoughts nearly killed Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel). Having the 2 personalitys drove Rogue nuts and she left magneto to seek help from Xaiver, at which point she joind the X-Men although there was a serious wedge between her and them as Ms Marvel was a friend of theirs.

Either way the problem with the movie isn't so much rogues age as it is that the movie kind of started in the middle of her story line without completing all the steps first. I pesonally highly doubt we will ever see rogue get her powers in the movies, I think that if the tried to do it that it would come off as rushed and sloppy, they should just leave it as is.
Gambit can charge anything, he's been known to charge cards, rocks, tables, chairs, even the armour/clothes of the people he fights. He can't charge living (organic)matter but that's about it.
I don't think that comic books have become obsolete although I do think that their audience has changed. I don't see too many people buying comics just as reading material anymore, instead people are either following them or not. You used to be able to find comic book racks in every supermarket and corner store, now you pretty much have to either subscribe or go to a comic store to find them. I also think the intended audience has gotten older, compare the orginal x-men comics with the relativly new ultimate series, or maybe it's just how much the times have changed. Although I would be hesitant to allow kids to read the ultimate x-men series at the same age that I read the originals.

Either way IMHO the reason Sony's latest productions have been flops has been because they haven't produced anything worth watching. The only ones that I personally was even half interested in seeing were Underworld: Evolution and ultraviolet and I couldn't even make it through ultraviolet before i left the theater it was so bad. Now the one movie they have had in the last while that actually looks good and has a pretty much assured fan base of marvel worshipers no matter how bad it is, they chose to rethink it. Go figure.
I particularly like the second to last one, that describes my situation perfectly, or rather it would if Canada were getting blacked out as well.
Judging from what I've seen just by skimming these comments I think that most people are missing a big point. This shouldn't be about whether NTP's patents are valid or not. If the PO decides they are then RIM should pay up to NTP for the infringment, if the PO says they are not then NTP should just take a long walk off a short pier. The point though is that the US courts will not allow RIM and the PO the time need to invalidate/validate NTP's patents. IIRC this started out with something like 7 patents, 5 of which have been invalidated, does nobody else seem to think that it is wierd that the courts seem to be trying to push a settlement before the last 2 can be examined by the PO?? Something smells fishy to me.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
