iPod owners report whining sound emanating from 2G nanos

I hear whines coming from virtually all my backlit gadgets. My 5G iPod and phone both do this, but it's almost impossible to hear unless I'm listening for it. I think its caused by the backlight, because the whine stops when the backlight goes off.

It doesn't bother me at all... but maybe the nano's whine is louder?

Sony BMG settles rootkit case in California for $750k

I know this issue is old, but it still makes my blood boil. What Sony BMG did is immoral, illegal, and unacceptable. Whoever is responsible should be prosecuted as a criminal, not made to pay a measly $750k. It should at least be $750 billion.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.

"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
