So they are saying that some charger covers could become loose, so that the internals get exposed, so that you, if you are actually that stupid, could touch them, while it is plugged in.

Of course stuff like this shouldnt happen, but a recall? As far as i understand the chargers work perfectly, no need to produce more waste. Just send out some nokia brandend duct tape, and be done with it.

Horay for the cmd key!
Left and right of the space bar, there shall be command keys, and to the sides of those the alts.
Should i get a new laptop, i will just remap ctrl to alt and alt+gr, and those two to the useless windows keys.

Rugged qwerty clamshell with a somewhat big screen inside?
Count me interested.

but from the looks of it, this probably runs some weird proprietary OS with no use, apart from the built in crap.

So whats the deal?
I thought the pres where sold unlocked here in europe anyways?
Is the british O2 really sellig them locked?

Not that i would get one (or that british O2 would matter to me), but this is stupid.

Well, i think i stay with manufacturers that sell their handsets direct, without carrier intervention.

MArketing wise its definitely a mistake.

but from the usability standpoint who cares? shure, faster is always better, but the difference is neglible (apart from the drop in battery life).

Symbian is quite snappy on "weak" hardware. i havent experienced any lag or slowness on nokias, Neither with the 5800 or the e71.
Are you really that stupid?

The price quoted here is the actual price for the handset. unlocked, with no contract (and therefore no subsidies).
What does you 99$ iphone cost if you buy it directly from the manufacturer, unlocked, and ready to take any sim card you have?

And no, i am not a nokia fanboy (in fact i do also think that this thing will not be that big of a success), but this "the iphone is only 99$, everyone else can go home!!!eleven!!!" stupidity is getting on my nerves!
Hows that a business laptop?
arent the SLs lenovos consumer thinkpads?

I'd rahter have a X or T series

Wich probably is exactly why dell went for this "ugly" design.
Have you ever tried using a modern, high powered "laptop" in your lap?
-Apples burn you, because they dont have vents, vut simply use the surface to dissipate heat (on your ap)
-other "laptops" overheat, since you are blocking their vents on the lower side.

This design solves both those issues, and you also get a cool palmrest and keyboard.

How good it works, and if the angle of the keyboard is usable remains to be seen, but this strange design is definietely more than just "LOL OMFG ugly, dell is loosing again, tey copieeid apple again but did it wrong LOL"

What is ugly, however is the fact they they put a 16:9 monitor in a frame for a 16:10, so that they esentially have a bezel inside a bezel.
It was ugly with the original eee, but asus ad least had a point there (price) but i suppose this one isnt going to come cheap.
also what use is a 16:9 screen anyways?

If i would be able to get it, and the image quality would be sufficient: probably yes.

Ever tried using a camera in the cold?
you need at least 4 sets of batteries (which will make you a poor man with most proprietary ones) and you can forget about using the LCD.
If it is indeed a wild hinge we are seeing, then this could indee be very clever.

If it works like i think, then most of the laptop is lifted up from the surface below, making for massive airflow beneath, therefore making the "cooling via lower surface" much more efficient.

But maybe its something else.
Whatever.
call me interested in it!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"All of these new nettops have me intrigued. I'm looking for a small, quiet and cheap PC to replace my aging tower in my home office, and all it really needs to do is load Microsoft Office, check email and surf the web. Is there a particular nettop that's better (or a better value) than another? I know it's a rather new segment, but hopefully someone has taken a chance on one already. Thanks!"
