I work at Kaplan and we organized something like this with the exact same company (House Party), and it was actually pretty effective—we made party kits and send them to the hosts, and the hosts throw a party, which may or may not be totally centered around the product.

It's an opportunity to have friends over, people get to learn about the product (if they care), and you as the host (and possibly everyone) get free swag. And all you have to do is take pictures of people looking like they're having fun and interacting with the product.

So, I don't think it's the terrible idea most of you make it out to be, it's actually a pretty good one. It's Microsoft letting *us* do some of the promoting for them.
I've actually experienced this. No missed call, and a voice mail that comes 24 hours (if not longer) later. It's been a rare occasion, though.
Is it me, or did anyone else find this video terribly frightening?
Considering Backwards Compatibility has been axed from the PS3, I don't really see the incentive in doing this... Unless you have an extra PS2 laying around.
Seriously guys, stop hating--this is good news. At least the Lips microphones are wireless, unlike Rock Band which currently has no wireless mic option.

What I'm REALLY waiting for is a wireless Rock Band mic that has a D Pad and Buttons on it (like the current Mad Catz one), it gets annoying when you're the singer and you have to always put the mic down and pick up a controller to do anything.
Hate how Apple is obsessed with the Glass / Glossy screens now, just from this picture alone you can see how much of a nightmare the glare is going to be.
didn't know chris cornell was getting his own game
You idiots are bashing him because he's a wrestler? Isn't this a point that you've been trying to prove for a while that games shouldn't be blamed for violence in society any more than other forms of media (movies, in this case)? He's speaking out on a point that us gamers have been trying to speak on for so long now but just haven't been heard.
This game doesn't deserve all the flak it's getting, I'll still be purchasing it.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I need help! I want a small pocket camcorder but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to fall into the hype of the Flip because I worry two hours won't be enough. What should I be looking for when considering a small camcorder and where can I get a good quality one with expandable memory? Thanks!"
