This looks like a mockup to me. I don't see how a working laptop could be that thin.
OK, so let's see if we can port this to the HP Mini-Note. Now that would be freakin' boss!
This actually seems kinda cool. Although I'm not entirely sure how often I'd use it, I'm in favour of any move towards simpler, more lightweight computing, which this certainly is.
Aww frak! No build instructions.

Making one of these would have made for a great work performance module project.

Oh well, I'll have to stick with my original plan of making a synthesiser using an Atmel Mega 8.
VIA have an irritating habit about talking about a chip for long time before they actually hit the market. I'll consider the possibility of dual core VIA chips next year plausible if VIA manage to ship the Isiah in June like they said they would.

And that's a pretty big if.
Boy it sure seems like we've got some serious hoplophobes here.

I mean, they're freaking out just because the thing even looks like a weapon. The inventor made it quite clear on the website that it's useless as an antipersonnel weapon. It's a nail gun on steroids that's functional as a target shooting pistol at best and isn't dangerous unless you unload it into someone's eye.

Now, if someone is going to be THAT stupid, they don't need to go to the effort of building a coil gun from publically available blueprints. Not when pointy sticks are cheap and plentiful.
Wow, this thing is awesome! I totally want to make one of my own once I get better at electronics.

I don't know whether to be dissapointed or relieved that it's useless as an antipersonnel weapon. Being able to build my own real gun would be cool, but I'm also glad that if the cops ever caught me with it, I could say "I know I don't have a liscence for it, but it's more of a target shooting pistol than a real gun".
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"What is the best wireless surround sound speaker solution? I have a home theater where running wires is just not feasible. I have my own speakers, so I don't want a system that has speakers with integrated wireless. I've done a far amount of research and have only come across a few companies that even offer a reasonable solution: KEF, Kenwood and Rocketfish. Is there anything else out there? What do you recommend? Thank you!"
