Group plans unmanned Everest rescue helicopter {Engadget}
Feb 6th 2007 2:50AM It was pretty clear from the story that the dropped "rope" will have a loop on the end, which the climber simply clips into as they would clip onto any other climbing rope. No climbing or holding onto the rope involved. Same system every other similar rescue apparatus uses, including baskets. Anyone who isn't already harnessed up (or can't easily be made so by their climbing partners) in such a fashion shouldn't have even been given enough brain cells to think about climbing in the first place.
Imaginality Unleashed combines 3D modeling with 2D paper {Engadget}
Dec 24th 2006 12:38AM Three of these systems were are currently in use at the Star Wars exhibit at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry in Portland OR. Each tile represented a building or other feature of one of the three environments you were supposed to try to build. I played around with the Tatooine sim, where you have to place evaporators and repair droids in order to maximize water production.
The system worked OK as long as you kept the tiles near the center, which didn't actually work for the sim itself. The camera quality and lighting were low, and the camera angle was far too flat to work properly. It still is a pretty neat trick though.

I agree. I've got way too many commitments right now to do this any real justice. I have an idea, and I've started to toy with board placement etc, and I have a pretty good start on parts of the software from previous projects, but I don't think there's any chance I can get something built in only 5 weeks on top of all my other stuff.

Nov 15th 2006 4:03PM Also, I'm assuming the board will have a silkscreen, otherwise the logo would have to be done in copper, which could be very problematic... Are we also looking at a generic green soldermask, or are other colors a possibility?

Nov 15th 2006 3:43PM If Eagle is the preferred EDA program, then a vector hackaday logo in an .lbr file would be extremely useful.
