The SPOT has its place but you are right about them toting the 911 feature. I've got a buddy in NW Canada transecting Princess Royal Island by foot and packraft using a SPOT right now. It was donated to them and they have a PLB, too...for real emergencies.
The are using the SPOT so people can follow them on the website....do PLBs do that?
Most people are missing the point on the wii. It is meant for the casual gamer and for people that didn't play video games before. I actually was ahead of the curve and traded my original xbox for a gamecube because the gamecube had games that my gf liked to play. The dudes at the game store were flabbergasted that I would purposely downgrade.
So, if you own multiple consoles, you are more than likely not a casual gamer. It follows that if one of those consoles happens to be a wii, your only going to be more dissppointed.
Now we've got the wii...no other game systems. We probably fire it up about 2 - 4 times a week.
And it is great for younger kids, too.
@flashpoint [The Wii sales hype is mostly due to the artificialy created shortage of them driving up consumer demand.]
huh? They had slower than expected production which decreased supply. Demand was the same to the price went up. Now that supply issues have been alleviated, resale prices are back to MSRP. If anything, the increased prices served to decrease demand. I don't look at it as hype because there are real numbers at vgchartz to back it up.
Brian: Please, please, please listen! I've got one or two things to say. The Crowd: Tell us! Tell us both of them! Brian: Look, you've got it all wrong! You don't NEED to follow ME, You don't NEED to follow ANYBODY! You've got to think for your selves! You're ALL individuals! The Crowd: Yes! We're all individuals! Brian: You're all different! The Crowd: Yes, we ARE all different! Man in crowd: I'm not... The Crowd: Sch!
I know this is enGadget and thus the posters here skew towards having the latest and greatest technology (tv's and connections in this case) but flat screen, HD, and cable doesn't equal better quality of living...in fact, I would argue that it increases your chances of getting fat-assed and just sitting there.
I have an aluminum antenna from the 60's (in the attic, not on the roof), a hand-me-down tv from my parents, and one of those converter boxes you can get for almost free from dtvanswers.com. I am amazed at the picture quality...no it doesn't match my friend's high-def super shiny new rigs but its good enough (and free).
During the day, plants absorb C02 and emit Oxygen. The process is reversed at night but not as effectively...hence plants over time grow and store the C02 in their tissue. That net amount gained of CO2 isn't released back until the tissue decomposes or is burnt.
"I love my little computing companion but I often find myself missing a full sized keyboard. I have been looking at several of these portable and flexible keyboards, but I can't seem to make up my mind about which I should buy. I don't want the keyboard to be overly expensive, but I want it to be good quality. Also, how difficult is it to type on these keyboards? Thanks!"
