Congratulations on 5 great years! Here's to the next 5!
The HDC-SD1 has been out for at least a month.
The author of the article is drawing some pretty silly conclusions. What is going on here is Sony is waking-up to the 3rd Party Manufacturing for the cell. This isn’t about Sony scrapping the cell architecture that they (together with IBM and Toshiba jointly) developed. It is about letting someone else worry about maximizing the technology and manufacturing it for them. Sony is going fab-less (with regard to the CBE anyway). No big Deal. This is a very good business decision. It is about time.
This is pretty impressive stuff. My only complaint (outside of lack of flash support) was not being able to play MP3's and other basic video formats out of the chute. This was fixed after installing mplayer. With the ability to VNC or use its true Remote Desktop support it is great having access to my other PC's or my machine in the office from yet another location in the house!

The PS3 is the gift that keeps on giving!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm heading to university next year, and I've purchased a MacBook. I'm also taking my four year old desktop, just in case I'm left with no computers when the MacBook is being repaired or whatnot. With only two USB ports on a MacBook, I want a Bluetooth mouse. Budget is about $100, and of course, it needs OS X support. Thanks for the help!"
