No flash? Really? Welcome to 2006, I guess.
So now, in addition to owning a computer with a built-in memory card reader, a monitor with a built-in memory card reader, and a printer with a built-in memory card reader, you can have an external hard drive with a built-in memory card reader! Wow! I hope you have a lot of memory cards that need reading, lawl.
"This just being a patent, of course, there's no indication as to when it'll actually be available or how much it'll cost."

The fact that it's Sony, though, guarantees that when it does debut it will be significantly more expensive than superior products from their competitors, its advertisements will insult your intelligence, it will use a proprietary model of the laws of physics to operate, and it will explode.
Let me know when they make this monitor with the same res, color gamut, and input connectors in a 24" model. I'll finally be able to replace my A7217A. Until these monitors pass 110 pixels per inch, and come within 95% of a CRTs' contrast ratio, people with graphical interests such as photography or design are going to continue to give up the desk space to CRTs.

My dream monitor would be a Brightside-based LCD (or equivilant HDR tech) that's 26" and 2560x1600. Mmmmmmm....116 ppi in a non-CRT...

I'll probably be forced to keep dreaming though.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
