Well, there is no OS X kernel. OS X runs on top of Linux. So I'd think this phone is basically a Linux phone. They kept using the OS X term to hype up their product.
I highly doubt "$499/$599 price INCLUDES THE 2-YEAR CONTRACT". $499 / 24 = $20.79/month. $599 / 24 = $24.95/month. That's cheaper than Cingular cellphone plans. I highly doubt that they will give the cellphone away for free, or provide a cellphone plan that cheap.
1. Is external monitor required to be used with this product? Will it work with the LCD that is built-in to the notebook?
2. Is any PCIe graphics card usable as an upgrade? Or does it take proprietary card only?
3. What game was used to do the comparison?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"My father-in-law is heading back to school in the spring and wants a laptop for Christmas. The only catch is their budget is around $400 and he does not want a netbook. He's not very "tech savvy" at all and doesn't need a hoss of a machine (not that $400 could get you one). We would like to get it for him as soon as possible and would love some input."
