Hackers use Windows Update to download malicious code {Download Squad}
May 11th 2007 1:27PM BITS is just a download service. Once an attacker has infiltrated a system, there are way more ways he could get around the firewall -- on any system, Linux, Mac, Windows -- it doesn't matter. All it does is download files.
As someone said before, the security venurability is whatever originally infected the system. Want another way to get around the firewall? Write a plugin that runs in-process of a process that already has access (IE, Outlook, Word, FireFox, Trillian -- whatever accepts plugins)....
Google's push for business {Download Squad}
Apr 17th 2006 8:53PM Too bad all Google stuff isn't enterprise grade. Its all web toys. No offline access, no customization for the enterprise. Companies must compromise their own security by letting Google host the files.
In the end, how good of a website are you gonna make with Google pages? What rich email features or calendar features or API's do you get like Exchange/Outlook.
Google builds toys. Its all they know how to build, and worst (for them), they can't capitalize on any of it.
Want an out-of-the-box office? Look at Office Live. It has all the features everyone would expect from an Office suite, plus accounting features and sharing features. Compared to that, Googles "Corporate Offering" is a joke.
