Official: HBO arrives on iTunes, standard pricing be damned {Engadget}

May 13th 2008 1:25AM I don't understand why people are acting as if the walls of Jericho have fallen down. There are already examples of variable pricing in PBS programming. There have always been rare examples of variable pricing in iTunes. Apple caves when it wants the content and thinks it's worth it. That doesn't mean Apple isn't still going to tell NBC we don't need you as much as you need me.

Former Apple CFO publicly blames Jobs for stock options scandal {Engadget}

Apr 24th 2007 3:07PM "Things are not looking good Cupertino way -- could this mark the beginning of the end of the Jobs-led Apple corporate structure as we know it? "

I think you missed the SEC's statement that there will not be further charges against Apple, and that they cooperated fully and met the SEC's concerns.

Heinen has to fight because she can be banned from Corporate Governance, and she can put up a good fight. Fred's statement mentions Jobs, but wholly in accord with Apple's statements and what the SEC already knows. He is only trying to explain himself.

Apple didn't go up because today because things aren't looking good. They went up because the story is basically over.

Microsoft patent app reveals potential Zune phone interface {Engadget}

Apr 18th 2007 6:01PM "Imagine a calendar icon that actually always has the right date, a weather icon that actually says the current temp, a music icon showing the album art of the current track/album..."

Don't have to imagine: I've had it for years on OS X.

eMusic tops 300k users, now 2nd to iTunes {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Apr 17th 2007 5:20PM Their subscriber base does not make them 2nd to iTunes. They are 2nd to iTunes in number of individual downloads purchased... which few other services offer as their major service.

Official Pink Zune gets 100,000 unit production run {Engadget}

Apr 7th 2007 5:29PM "You just posted that you have no idea what Apple has sold, but you then say that it is selling faster than the iPod?"

Posting a sales benchmark of units sold is a whole lot different than looking at a Top Sellers list on their store, is it not?

I can see what sells best at Amazon, that does not tell me how many units sold.

"Like I said, you Apple users have too much of a tendency to either exaggerate or just flat out lie. "

I neither exaggerated or lied. You have too much of a tendency to be ignorant and illogical.

Official Pink Zune gets 100,000 unit production run {Engadget}

Apr 7th 2007 3:32PM "So no, there aren't 500,000 people that bought an Apple TV. If it was it would have been splashed on the front page of this site, and another site that shall remain nameless, multiple times with many exclamation points."

Umm, who? Which sites?

Apple only releases numbers when they want to, we won't know until they want to. And based on (actually) understanding Apple, past annoucnements and their own understanding that half a million is not significant, they wouldn't release a number unless it was a million.

The AppleTV was the first product to outsell the iPod at Apple for 3 years, and it does so for 4 weeks. It remains a decent seller.

I will predict that it reaches 1 million units before the Zune. It is only a prediction but I do so quite comfortably.

Why? Zune is hoping these 2 colors (presumably both at 100,000) will get them over the hump of their own prediction of 1 million by June. That's, say,

Michigan's "no iPod left behind" budget proposal {Engadget}

Apr 6th 2007 6:40PM "in case you haven't noticed, those two lines are in DIFFERENT paragraph. there was no connection between then."

Fine, you just like to scream Monopoly for no reason other than the word iPod being mentioned. I didn't realize you were one of those.

"and yes, it would lead to monopoly"

I thought it was unrelated? Now, it is? Whatever. No, sorry, again, your notions of what a monopoly is are absurd and misguided. You just hate the iPod.

"and yes, it would lead to monopoly, this isn't Dells a school buy for themselves. but something they LENT to student to bring home. There's a major difference."

No, it isn't. Many schools are lending laptops now.

"you think anybody in the state of Michigan will buy another MP3 players again?"

Umm, yes... the same 20% that do now.Are you suggesting that their experience with an iPod will be so good they'll never want anything else? Okay, so what's wrong with that? Being so pleased with a product that you never buy the competition ever again is just the opposite of a monopoly.

Michigan's "no iPod left behind" budget proposal {Engadget}

Apr 6th 2007 4:54PM What in "what a great way to use the tax payers money." leads to monopoly? When a school board buys Dells or Mac or HPs for a district doe sthat make it a monopoly?

Maybe you want to "scream MONOPOLY" for some other foolish reason (for which you'd still likely be wrong), but nothing about this story "screams MONOPOLY."
