I agree with Willux on the Apple TV. We have a new baby and the Apple TV has been great. Showing the grandparents a slideshow on the big screen along with baby movies is nearly priceless. We've watched movies (from iTunes or moved over from DVD), podcasts, youtube favs, and of course having all of our music available is excellent.

I can see a number of ways to make it even better, but what we have right out of the box is well worth what we paid.

Perhaps the Apple TV detractors are measurbators?(http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/7.htm)

>> One more blow against the official iTunes extortion and shakedown store.

extortion |ikˈstôr sh ən|
noun
the practice of obtaining something, esp. money, through force or threats.

I must have missed that section of the itunes store.

>> There are many reasons to do this

Care to enumerate them for us?
This year we made cards via iPhoto for the first time and when we got the cards w/envelopes we used address book to print the address & return address on each card. There's a number of pre-defined envelopes formats.

Think of the baby!

How am I going to show scads of hi-res baby pictures to dental assistants without an iPhone?

The rest of y'all should bow out gracefully so our baby can have an iPhone.

They aren't called The Unending Apple Whiners blog for nothing! ":^)
I know this is picking nits and all, but Apple didn't announce they were changing, portalplayer did. The engadget article even mentions this.

Eric, in my experimenting with boot camp on an office iMac holding down the eject key during power up has always ejected the disk, before whatever operating system was chosen got around to loading. You may have to hold it down for a long time.
"Unfortunately, Ron could be a billionaire today if he'd stuck it out."

Actually, that is not true. A few weeks ago I visited the alternate dimension where he ended up staying and it was totally devoid of Apple. No Windows either, which stands to reason...who would they have copied from? Nothing very exciting in that alternate dimension, lots of monochrome displays and Ctrl-key driven apps.

The daily IBM company songs were kind of keen...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which "green "power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!"
